      Hi Dubiousp.
Nice to see you pop up again on these pages, it is nice to know you are still making a go of things.
The gung you refer to is quite normal, and especially so if you are using a castor mix, in answer to your muffler question, there are a variety of tuned pipes and aftermarket mufflers for all engine sizes, if you are at the moment using a stock silencer, you can cut down the noise and uprate the power by using one of these.
I should imagine my little advice will be advanced upon later this evening by the more experienced scribes to this site.
Glad to see you are still around.
      GOOD LEARNING.
      Mo.

I have also just finished building a Raptor 30 v2 and have just started learning to fly. I am in my second flight now and have just started to hover a few feet from the floor but only for a few seconds, before i am nudged by the wind and down i come which is a habit i know i must break.
So any tips from anyone out there will be most appreciated.
The question about your exhaust putting out gung i have been told is quite normal at first, especially if it is a brand new engine and not run in yet.
My tutor tells me this is quite normal and will only require a slight tweek on the needle valve as the engine starts to run in.
For fuel at the moment i have been advised again to use a 12% mix for better cooling and better protection of the engine to which i must add i was impressed about the noise level of my engine as i thought it would have been like an over excited bee but was actually quite muffled.
Are you using the standard exhaust supplied with the kit or something else ?
It has been great to put my first post up, so if there is anything to share please do. And i hope that my very little knowledge has helped in some way.

          Cheers

Oil residue from the silencer is quite normal and desirable. As well as lubricating the motor the fact that the oil passes thro the engine cools it as it does so.
If the oil is landing on the mechanics and making a mess you can fit a " shit shoot " and deflect it away .
The amount of residue is a factor of how lean or rich you run the engine.
running on the rich side will prolong the life of the motor - if you start to lean it out to much it will get hot and the useful life will be cut short.
If you want a real quiet model fit a Zimmerman they cost but do the job.

Raptornator mentioned 12% -I assume you mean Nitro content - as if you mean oil content that's not enough - if your useing a Japanese engine then you need an oil content of around 18% to 20% .

If it's not fun, your not doing it right !!

'Shit shoots' also have the added benefit of making it a little easier to start the engine (blocking the outlet momentarily, creating pressure) without burning your fingers or getting goo on them.
