  • DSMX sats

Hey guys , is it OK to use DSMX sats with a VBAR and a JR DSX 11, or is it best to use DSM2 sats to be on the safe side. ?

I used dsmx on a dsx9 before so should be fine.

DSMX is backwards compatible with DSM2 I would say you'll be fine with DSMX sats.

They may quote that but in my experience with the combination on the Vortex there is something funky going on between the sats and the Tx. Sometimes they bind immediately, sometimes 1 binds fine the other sits flashing away. There was no pattern to it and the worst thing was reduced distance before I started to lose one or the other sat. I swopped them for DSM2 and it's fine, the bind is immediate and the distance is back to where you expect it to be.

I can't be scientific because I don't know the clever bits behind it but in my experience use DSM2 sats with DSM2 Tx's and DSMX with DSMX tx's. There is no viable advantage to running DSMX on DSM2 anyway, unless you've got them lying around I suppose.

        edit: Take a look here

Just had a look through that thread, thanks for that, was just gonna use the dsmx sats cos I happen to have 2 here instead of buying 2 dsm2 sats, think ill give the dsmx ones a try first but if there is any funky stuff going on while binding I will buy some dsm2s for it.

tbh the only time ive had trouble binding sats was to do with voltage, when I got my logo I tried setting it up with a 4.8v buffer pack pluged into the vbar, I had a devil of a game tring to get them to bind and when they did as soon as I moved a servo they started flashing, plugged the koni bec in and it worked fine after that. spectrum sure doesn't like low voltages..

Been running DSMX in hi res mode with my 11 for over a year. Just set up another vbar the same.

I read that and after speaking to Angelos about it he does nothing with signals until the sats have returned that they are ready to go. Worse still was that the dsmx sats that he used for his tests work absolutely fine. It's like a firmware problem, I decided to go back to dsm2 which has proven to be reliable. In fairness the dsmx says worked fine on the v bar
