Sorry to trouble ya out there , but I treated myself to a talon 90 speedo , I set the bec via the link to 6v but it's output is 5.7-5.8v on the gobler 500 , n when I do a wiggle on the sticks , it drops to 5.2v at worst with no binding etc , I have a separate bec pro , that's not quite as bad , thought the talon had the same bec in it , any ideas why it could be low ?

Could be its faulty. Do you have any way to measure the current your gear is drawing?
Does the output wire or plug get warm, you could be getting a voltage drop in the wire.
The BEC is rated ridiculously high IMO, there is no way the rated current could be drawn without the wiring dropping at least 1v.

If your looking for good little load tester that will do your servos and your power train, you might consider getting one of these:
Turnigy 2 in 1 Power Meter/Servo Meter 1.5 TFT
Down side they don't appear to be available from their UK warehouse at present so would take a while to get to you but it's a helpful bit of kit to have anyway.

thanks SGD for that , my local has a bit of kit that does the the same by the looks of it , just a different badge . st200 , cheers , seems i`m not the only one then , i have emailed castle just to hear there side , hopefully i`ll get a flight in this weekend , all though the weather forecast is very poorSeaking

I think that's the same as the HK unit but it doesn't have the high volts/amps side for testing the power train.Originally posted by ady View Post

I don't have a proper measuring device, but the vortex datapod tells you the lowest voltage seen. I just tried mine on the bench, and from a pack with ~60% charge, the datapod showed 5.7v input.
The "flight analysis" screen also showed a minimum voltage of 5.55v after I wiggled the sticks around for 30 seconds or so ...
Worryingly, that's quite close to the point at which a Scorpion Backup Guard would try to kick in! ?? (not that I have one!)

Also 5.55V isn't actually all that close to the 5V cut-in point for the Backup Guard as you've only dropped 1.5V from the 5.7V you started with, you'd have to drop 3x that amount again before you got close to needing the Scorpion to kick-in.

What's more of interest is the output voltage in ady's case is 5.7volts when supposedly it should be 6 and it drops 0.5volts under load. Apart from the accuracy of your voltmeter the line load regulation of your bec is pretty poor in my opinion.
It is a good job one of the options wasn't 5volts else you would have been in trouble.
Tom's is also low on the output voltage but the line load regulation looks alot better. This could be due to the servos being used of course and any tight links.
