What windspeeds are the maximum for flying? Its 18-22mph here today and I'm not sure if it would be OK?

depends on the model, a 30/50 will cope with that just fine. just be aware that it will travel down wind very quickly!

Personally I hate flying in strong winds. I find for me it takes away from the enjoyment rather than having fun I end up spending more time trying to beat the wind. Its snowing like hell here.
        Cheers

Bright sunshine here at the moment.

we get alot of wind at our flying site because its surrounded by water, you learn to someextent to live with it and fly anyway, but ive found helis tend to be hardier than planes plenty of times weve been flying the helis while the plank boys are grounded.

but as Stuart says it does take away the fun, plus its harder to try something new.
          All the best

            NIL

You know, there are some people who relish sending up their helis and leaning them into the wind at an angle to counteract the wind, flying upwind and counteracting the transitional lift, turning around and flying downwind, just to do the same all over again. Nuts. Can't understand the enjoyment in that.

Bloody hard with a Twister Medevac mind you.

flips are always interesting mine end up halfway across the field, not yet learned to compensate for the wind when doing them

Full -ve pitch when vertical then 0 over the top then full +ve in the vertical round to whatever is needed to maintain altitude. Assuming it is blowing a gale of course!

I fly my planes and my heli in the wind, 30mph obviously when it comes to aircraft and even helis it depends on the type of craft . Some aircraft it would be stupid to fly in the wind . I enjoy flying in the wind with the heli it is more of a challenge with the aircraft it's just good fun

The wind don't bother me - just go fly.

Only the rain or fog stops me flying....... or my Mrs!

Been out this morning and it was windy, but worse than that I must be getting soft cause my hands were bloody frozen.
On the bright side after a little setup change during the week the Rappy flew straight out of the van and after a little tweak on the curves was great.
Must admit though the cold got the better of me and I wimped off home to the warm.
                          Still theres always tomorrow

its not the wind speed but the gusts that are bad for you if you hover in a 30+ wind and its steady thats ok but if it goes from 10 to 20 then down to 5 then back to 25 you will be on the ground in bits in a few seconds.
