Following on from some poor chap losing all his stuff to lowlife this week I am asking a question about how you are or think you are covered?
It made me realise that if I had to replace everything it would prolly set me back a few grand !!
Do you have your Helis listed on your contents policy or is there a special insurance cover for our 'toys'
It's worrying because I have no receipts as such to prove what I paid because its been upgraded/bought second hand or swapped over years.
Are we as covered as we think we might be or like me do you just assume its covered under your 'new for old' house insurance ?????

IIRC house insurance does not cover IC engines? I could be making that up but I'm sure I've read that a few times on here

All mine covered under general policy, checked & did not need to list everything but was advised to keep an 'asset' list with pictures should the need arise it would be easier to process a claim, unfortunately I have swapped & changed so many models since then it's out of date

My personal experience tells me that Insurance companies are barely one step up from a sack of bandits, and regardless of what you have paid for, or what you think you have covered they will squirm and wiggle and pay out pretty much nothing regardless of any information, proof etc that you might possess. Scummy gits, please look at page 97 paragraph 6 sub section 93 where it quite plainly says you're not covered in this instance!... but maybe I'm a bit jaded with the parasitic rip off merchants that I have dealt with in the last year on three different, non-fault issues Car, Dog, House. There, rant over

Mines covered under general policy £2k per model upto 14 models I specified, but not all my accessories or I wouldn't no where to start.

Just checked out the Doodson prices per year.

                  £1000 of cover £25
                  £2500 of cover £39
                  £5000 of cover £69
                  £10000 of cover £119

"You will normally have to pay an initial amount for each claim made under the policy (£100).
These excesses may vary and your quotation and policy schedule will show the specific excesses applicable to you"

But which cover would you go for?
And how many of us have sat down and calculated the gross value of our flying hobby?

Is the hidden wall unit fireproof and water resistant? Theft is only 1 kind of insurance you need to think about...

Is it just me that thinks this is expensive? Bearing in mind what we are paying BMFA etc for actually flying/crashing these things...

You wouldn't think it expensive if you lost all your gear mate and bmfa only insures for damage to third parties not your own heli AFAIK
