My view on it is that I kinda agree with MR's policies and think that his site is valuable. The thing I don't agree with is his abuse and mis-use of his own policies. I was considered a spammer because I was sponsored...hmm, no policies stating that sponsored pilots are considered spam, just that no spamming is allowed...The guy is a nutcase and the 'power' is getting to him.

I dont understand RR at all people are pinked for having an opinion then someone makes a racist comment about a half serbian half croation who when he looks in the mirror wants to kill himself & this is allowed? The place is just sick guys just stay away its a bad place full of bad people.

As a matter of possible interest my account on RR is still blocked by MR, I could re-register under another user name but after several years of trying to post helpful info only to be blocked with out good reason I not inclind to bother!

Trev, if enough people like you remove their help and expertise from his forum, it will fairly quickly devolve into the steaming pile it really is.

Also, as he uses visitor statistics to get companies to buy advertising space from him - the more people that visit (regardless of posting), the more leverage he has to convince companies to buy that ad space. It's self perpetuating...

Remove the knowledge (which he did a great job of all by himself by deleting users and their posts as he's gone along) and the people eventually get theidea to always look elsewhere for it first. Visitor stats would then start to slide and eventually, the whole thing collapses.

I don't go there at all as I'm inclined to not support him when he does not support the hobby (how anyone could claim to support a hobby by removing knowledge from it is beyond me).

quite right, visiting stinking 5h1t holes is against my religion. RR is not the center of the universe or the font of all heli knowledge, it's mostly newbies who know no better.

My question to those in the know within the industry is what the sentiment on this topic is behind the scene. Realraptors and Midlands buy banner space which helps to perpetuate RR's hold over the advertising dollar/pound. This advertising does work, but their are alternative ways to drive traffic to your site which are easier, targeted, and more cost effective than banner space. It is also possible to turn the current situation on it's head and for retailers to earn revenue direct from vendors, thus putting the hobby back under the influence of the people who care. This flies in the face of traditional thinking but it does work.

I've been approached so many times from people wishing to pay for advertising space. Thus far I've said no and I wouldn't take any one unless members okayed it first. Why ?

I like free speech and I hate to moderate and I'm not sure if some shop's would like my idea that if you get a bad rep then you have to defend yourself I will not be piggy in the middle and I'm not deleting posts just to keep shop's happy. Plus then as MR suffers he spends more time try to stop people selling and supporting products to protect his income. Using all kinds of bull excuses to justifiy deleting posts, members and changing usernames.

I'd rather create a type of compare.com for the rc market. It can run itself and hopefully both shops and hobbyists win.

One of the great things about this site apart from the help that is always available is NO ADVERTS, which means you do not have all this in your face all the time, as far as I am concerned keep Heliaddicts an advert free zone, the product plugs that get posted here are from peoples own experiences good and bad lets keep it that way. As usual Stuart you do a great job, and keeping this format has my vote anyday.
