  • Slow 9254 tail problem

Bit hard to explain this, but I can't find the problem. Running a csm560 micro gyro with a 9254 servo. I expect the servo to be very resposive when you move the stick, but it moves really slow compared to the tail serco in my other trex.
When you run through the set up on the gyro, the servo zips back and forwards really crisply as you'd expect a 9254 to do, but once set, it moves really slow??. I had a 401 on before, and swapped it because I thought the gyro was at fault, was ok last time I flew, but now seem to have the problem back.
Also, i've noticed that sometimes when I switch on the model, I get no tail at all??.
Things checked already, no binding on tail or pushrod, changed step down lead, tried servo just plugged into another reciever and it works fine. I'm at a loss, this is all brand new kit effectively, which I don't want to risk crashing due to a dodgey tail.
    Any help appreciated.
    Cheers

is your gain for the gyro set quite high as this could make the servo move slower

Have you tried the servo on its own with no gyro?

      Are your atv's at 100% ?

Is it not the 9254 that doesn't like CSM gyro's?

sounds like you have it in head lock mode. have you tried it in rate mode aswell?.
have you got it set to super servo? are you giving the gyro chance to arm itselfhave you got the gain and servo plugged into the right channels?

ATV's set at 100%. Everything was working fine, so I don't think anything is plugged in wrong. Digital servo is switched on.

Only tried plugging servo into another reciever, maybe should plug directly into reciever in the heli ??.

I'm really stuck with this. When the heli first flew everything was sweet. Then the tail servo stopped without warning. Stripped everything out, and had the problem i've got now. Swapped gyro, everything great, then this trouble. I could understand if the servo was slow all the time, but it's really quick during the csm set up ??.
            I'm at a loss.

if you check the servo in the same channel on the same receiver and it all works fine then the problem I would have thought would have to be with the gryo, either faulty or an error in the setup. don't know alot about csm gyros so I couldnt help with that side of things.

Mine is a big old grey 560 recently serviced with the latest rev4 software - so it works the same as yours.

When it got upgraded to rev4 I noticed that in HH on the deck the servo seems to move a bit slower than it did on rev2. It certainly moves slower than it does during setup or with the servo plugged directly to the rx.

However the tail control is excellent, good stops fast reactions, excellent tail hold - no complaints at all.

With it in HH move the heli or the stick so that the tail goes to full travel, then flick into rate mode - it will move back to centre instantly.

If you like I can attempt a movie tonight of how mine reacts but it sounds to me like nothing is necessarily wrong.

                Have you flown it?

Yep, my servo moves rapidly back to the centre when switching into rate mode, but it's still slow once in rate mode. Does yours move quicker in one mode or the other??.

Must admit I didn't fly it. I'm sure the last time out the servo seemed much more responsive when waggling the sticks, and flew with no problem. Also, the first couple of attemp at powering up the heli, I got no tail at all. There was no power to the servo as you could move it freely by hand.
Are csm gyro's fussy which mode you power them up in ??.

                  Thanks for your help.

If you can move it freely by hand then that is wrong.
Will have a play with how it moves tonight.
I read that when they are on the way out 9254s go weak and slow. But yours is sometimes fast which might mean something else is wrong with the gyro setup.
