I agree with Lee. The one thing its done is get you all talking about the Align 800 motor. And Align in general. So from an advertising pov thats mission accomplished

I think the only reason scorpion are getting the backing from other companies as it gives them a golden chance to take a pop and stain Align's name who are most companies main compatiton. But tbh as most said for pilots like me who are unsponsored ATM then it doesn't concern us, it's all been blown out off proportion and words have been changed and twisted to fit the aims and views of that particular person to suit there views.

I was having dinner with Georges, the owner of Scorpion, in Germany when it all 'kicked off'. The guy is extremely passionate about what he does and, as probably many people have witnessed, he has supported and attended many of the UK and numerous other events. He is a heli fanatic and whilst of course he runs Scorpion as a commercial enterprise, he has a genuine enthusiasm for the hobby.

The original campaign was Taiwan only, and expressly targeted at Scorpion pilots. Irrespective of whether you thing it's good or poor business practice, it is probably going to elicit some sort of reaction, and whilst I have my own views about how I may have reacted in his position, I completely respect his right to react. If someone targets your business in that way, then I guess you have to expect some form of response. The fact is that his response has made Align reconsider the position and it now looks like they are confining it to Taiwan only, and as far as I understand it, any exchange motor.

Honestly, it is sad to see this sort of thing kick off but don't ever lose sight of the fact that Georges didn't start it; he was put in an invidious position. No doubt there could be a long debate about the numerous alternative reactions he could have made but fair play to him, Align have moderated their position now so you could argue that he was probably right in his response.

Georges is a good guy and has supported the hobby positively; we also import and distribute his products so, like him, not something we particularly wanted to see occur.

hey it cart be that bad get a free align Helli from sponsors sell it.....send proceeds to scorpion and get a Even better free Helli win ....win if you ask me its not going to stop people buying align are scorpion just all free publicity

at the end of the day its all pie in the sky and if scorpion want to open that up to all Helli flyer's ( wow that would cost them loads ) then it don't make a differences in the grand scheme of things

only thing i can see is maybe a few new sponsored people coming out of it

Surely it would have been best on Scorpions part to say and do nothing. After all, its the highest form of compliment for Scorpion. They make outrageously good motors. I would go out on a limb and say not many would do away with a Scorpion in their setup in favour of Align. The core purchasers or users would in my mind not be swayed by this as a "deal".

So.... it in no way shape or form represents any kind of actual threat to Scorpions reputation, business or overall sales. I cant see why on earth it attracted this kind of reaction at all. The deal was Taiwan only.... we all know that in that part of the world the ethics of business are not quite the same as they are elsewhere. So i don't think it represents any malice towards Scorpion on Aligns part. It only shows that Align accept that in the pro end of the hobby, Scorpion are the standard now. I don't see how anything happening on Aligns turf should directly affect Scorpion. Is there anything at all to even suggest this was ever going to be a world wide deal? Or is it all speculation?

Scorpion have ****** them self over here in my opinion, If there products really are better and worth the money over Align then they had nothing to worry about. People would switch to align, Realise that scorpion are still better and then go buy a brand new scorpion motor meaning scorpion gets another purchase! Instead they've overreacted and made them self look bad while also most likely incurring significant cost to themselves if they are indeed going to swap out kits.

It's all well and good everyone on the outside having their opinion but I wonder if they would have that same opinion if the company belonged to them ? With hindsight maybe there has been an overreaction but I would probably have done the same if I felt that a rival was threatening the business I had worked so hard to grow and gain the reputation it has. Offence is the best form of defence. And no, none of this would make me think twice about buying another scorpion motor. The product speaks for itself. Just my opinion

To be honest I would have said the best reaction Scorpion could have given is offering anyone that took up Aligns offer the same deal for their 800MX when they decided they were better off with the scorpion.

IMO what Scorpion have done is now make them look like a motor for the elite. Align helis are the norm in the clubs, and now when they see a scorpion pilot fly they won't think "Oh if only I had a scorpion I could fly like him/her" Nope now they'll think, "Oh I can't afford a Goblin/Rave etc as well as a Scorpion, I'll stick with what I have".

Say what they like about power output. They are all fudged specs in the mines better than yours war. Just like the lipo claims. If there is no universal test benchmark they can pick any reasonably truthfull number out the sky and claim its true.

Still if 800MX motors start poping up on speed run records and in finalists 3d helis ill have to re evaluate! and then eat my hat!
