  • what comes with PL8?

Im thinking about biting the bullet and getting the PL6 or PL8 and the price difference between them isnt much TBH, so it will probably be the 8...

I have a 6S parallel charge board already, so dont want to fork out the £50 odd quid for the FMA one...

Ive heard that you get nothing other than the charger, i.e. no leads at all with the PL8.

Would I be able to plug in a standard 4mm banana plug and 6S JST balance board, or is it a special connector on the charger?

    Thanks

    James

Ok, so maybe I should re-phrase my question!

what balance connector port does it have on it?... im guessing an 8S one? so my 6S balance board connector wont fit?... and is it a JST connector?

If you're like me you'll be disappointed with how little you get in the box, considering how much you've paid for the charger. I only got a cardboard box with a PL8 charger in it, nothing else, not even an instruction manual or leaflet telling me the website to download the manual from!

Depending on the power source you're going to use, you're going to need a lead with 4mm banana connectors at one end and an EC5 at the other for the connection to the PSU, or a lead with croc clips and EC5 to connect to a battery. The balance connector is specific to the PL6 / PL8 by the looks of it so you'll also need a PL8 balance board Revolectrix Cell Pro PowerLab PL8/PL6 Adapter Board JST-XH PL8GPKOSTD

What battery's do you intend to charge? Do you really need a PL8? There is much better value chargers out there in my opinion

Over the last couple of years I have graduated through 4 chargers having gone from just dabbling with electric planks and helis , from 250 and 450 electrics to 700 12s and 500 6s .
my battery collection has expanded in size and capacity .
I wish I had just gone straight for the PL8 and fma board from the start.
I can parallel charge a days worth of batteries in a couple of hours . I would have halved the cost of chargers and psu's .
Down load the manual from FMA web site have a read through and make your choice from there . Yes you can get cheaper chargers but you are paying for good hardware and very good software to manage your lipos correctly It is not just a charger it is a management system for your complete battery collection .

                    Re: what comes with PL8?

I have both. I prefers the 8. I could not warrant the money on board instead use parallel cables from fast-lad. Plus they are easier to connect up. Btw I have a crock clip lead that need to sell on if needed.

                      Oh so true.

I have boxes of charger stuff, all money wasted, the PL8 is everything you need.
                      Expensive but well worth it.
I get a lot of the accessories I need, second hand, off the forum.
Quality is so good it lasts, I have not been let down yet with anything second hand.

In reply to the original thread, I was disappointed with whats in the box, not even well packaged.
The combo is the best route to go if you want genuine accessories.
