  • T-Rex 450 RTF OR 450 KITS

Are the T-REX 450 rtf packages good or is it better to build one of the 450 kits and get the TX and RX of your choice and any other electrics you may need and is it better to go FBL or not

  • #2
Go fbl and build it.You will learn how it works and goes together.

      Flybarless is easier.

RTF or kit depends on what you want. The kits have better components, but if you're not confident about putting it together - or, if you're not interested in putting it together, then the ready to fly packages represent very good value for money IMO.

I tend to agree with heliboy though, if you can, you will get more (both in better parts, and from a learning perspective) from a kit build.

the DFC plus or whatever its called looks like very good value if you dont have a tx or charger.

However it is better to build your own as you'll learn how everything fits together and how to fix it when you crash

Also, are you a member of a club, or do you have people nearby who can help? For a first build, it's *far* easier if you have knowledgable people on hand .... Not sure I would have attempted a build without having help to hand locally..

            Hi all.
I am also thinking of getting a RTF model. Got my eyes on two.
Blade 450 with DX6i, or a Align Trex 450 plus dfc.
This will be my second model so I have a good idea how to fix it "when" I crash The reason for RTF is because my first model was very basic with basic radio gear.
Both are reasonably priced and would get you started much quicker. Especialy if you are not in a club.
Does anyone have any thoughts on any of these models.

If you already have a 450 the best choice imo is the 450 pro 3GX supercombo with a DX7s.

My first model is a Neon Blaze V3. I am going to upgrade because I have not crashed for a while.
It will be my first 450.

To be honest, I think they're pretty close technically. The Align 450DFC plus RTF is a very good heli and the Futaba radio you get with it is pretty decent too. That said, the Blade 450X has been around for a little while now and is widely recognised as being a very good machine. The AR7200BX (BeastX) unit is widely recognised as being probably the best entry level flybarless unit around. The 450DFC plus comes with the new micro sized 3GX-MR (not the normal 3GX) flybarless which is pretty new. With the recent upgrade to V3 of the 3GX firmware, most people think it now handles as well as the BeastX - but not sure what this micro-unit is like.

A pretty good comparison of the flybarred version of both these machines (Blade 450-3D v Trex450plus) can be found here : Trex 450 Plus - The Blade 450 Terminator
Whilst the 450X and 450DFCplus are flybarless, many of the comparison points will still be valid.

Whatever you choose, both are excellent helis - so you can't really go wrong!

Thanks gents. I hope all this helps mart59 aswell. I got the cheap neon blaze to try and learn on. Its not perfect, but its a decent size and gets you in the air.
