I think the question that needs to be asked is whether you have a problem with your current setup, I personally know of 5 people with DX8's including me that have had no problems with our DX8's. I also know that one of them pushed an FPV plane to 1km using a DX8 with no problems.
The DX8 is now a reliable radio system for a great price.
If you don't have a problem currently why change?TREX 700E DFC SK540

I potentially do!!
Every time I view a log as well its got antenna switches and missed inputs because of this. Could have potentially caused me a crash with Spunky. Thats whats prompting my move and thats with a DSX11 but DSM2 sats!!!!

What has it got to do with having a problem or not that prompts someone to want to try something different? If you don't have a problem currently why change?
Their is a Goblin for sale on here and I know the young man selling it. It flies perfectly but he wants to go nitro...Last edited by Andy from Sandy; 19-01-2013, 04:51 PM.

I think you'll actually find more reports of issues on fixed wing than we get on helis, particularly those related to loss of control most likely caused by a brown-out. We tend to be a lot more aware of the power requirements on our helis and tend to have better equipment in the model compared to people with fixed wing still flying on 4.8V receiver packs.Originally posted by trillian View PostIf those guys don't have planes dropping out of the sky then I suggest at least some percentage of these failures on helis are caused by something other than interferance (vibration, RX power, improper mounting of satellites, etc).
The problems due to interference are not in doubt, they just need enough people flying DSM2 in close proximity to each other. Add in things like putting your tx on the ground and turning it on while it is shielded by your body and the ground so it can't see all the active channels and that is where the problems start and the need for DSMX was proven.
There is nothing dramatically wrong with DSM2 as long as you let the radio see the channels in use and don't regularly fly with 40 or more other people also on DSM2

The perception of beauty is subjective. In the dark you would never know the difference. Sorry just had to do this. lolLast edited by Andy from Sandy; 19-01-2013, 05:17 PM.

I have never seen a hint of a problem with my old DSM2 DX8, DX7, DX6i or my new DSMX DX8 eitherOriginally posted by ghost2212 View PostI think the question that needs to be asked is whether you have a problem with your current setup, I personally know of 5 people with DX8's including me that have had no problems with our DX8's. I have also been to some massive surface 1/10th off road meetings with well over 200 drivers, up to 40 racing on three different tracks at one time, people flying in the next field and god knows how many in the pits with there Tx's on testing and setting up there buggys/cars, loads of DSM2 radios present as DSMX has not yet filtered to surface.........................never herd one complaint of brown out or any other problem, my DX3R Pro never skipped a beat.
Don't get me wrong Spektrum have had there problems but so have Futaba, YouTube it, even the mighty 2.5k 18MZ is on there with lock out issues.Martyn

But 2.4ghz does have many advantages over 35mhz? Smaller antenna's, more up to date radio's, no chance of someone shooting you out the sky, telemetry and other numerous one's.Originally posted by Andy from Sandy View PostSo in some peoples minds once you have chosen Spektrum you are not allowed to change?
How many people were using 35MHz without any issues at all, before Spektrum and then switched to 2.4? Same argument I think.
Switching from Spektrum to Futaba or vice versa may have no advantages at allTREX 700E DFC SK540

I think this is the YouTube clip that your talking aboutOriginally posted by Martyn (Bomber) View PostDon't get me wrong Spektrum have had there problems but so have Futaba, YouTube it, even the mighty 2.5k 18MZ is on there with lock out issues.
Futaba 18MZ Locking Up? - YouTube
But if you watch it closely, the transmitter still continues to control the servos even though the screen has locked out!!! This is because the 18MZ (like the 14MZ) has dual processors - one to control the screen and one to control the signal output.
If you look at my signature below, I also have a DSX9!!!
