So it seems that as the Nano now occupies the niche for flying in your lounge; the Micro has grown a bit (longer blades).
TBH, while I like BLDC for increased longevity & reliability; the thing I'd really want is a governor. That would make it closer to a 'proper' small heli.
There seems to be no sign of this, unfortunately.Yes, it's th@ tw@ Scallyb@...

Yeah, why not ?Originally posted by tomatwalden View PostA governor on an mcpx!? Seriously!?
On both the Mini & Nano, you've got enough electronic stabilisation to make them fly pretty sensibly (certainly indoors) - except the headspeed varies depending on the pack, state of charge, etc; and as the headspeed varies, so does everything else.
A constant headspeed is a really good idea with CP helis...Yes, it's th@ tw@ Scallyb@...

Maybe I'm wrong (probably am), but I wonder if a governor on a heli this size would be overkill. It's bound to increase complexity and weight. It'd also take up an extra channel from the TX. Maybe make it less beginner friendly? (I know the answer to this - a brushless mCPX is not a beginner proposition!).
The sensor and electronics around it would be another component that could potentially fail too.
I'm guessing a U curve might be a good compronise at this size ...Tom

It should all be integral to the ESC. Though programming it might be an issue.Originally posted by tomatwalden View Post[...]The sensor and electronics around it would be another component that could potentially fail too.
However, given that it's BNF, all they'd need to do is preset a number of headspeeds at various throttle settings; and maybe some way of selecting gov or throttle mode.
On my bigger helis, my throttle channel is literally an on/off switch. The ESC handles soft-start, spin-up, then governing. It's cool (and user-friendly.)Yes, it's th@ tw@ Scallyb@...
