  • 27 EC's

Just fitted 27 EC's to the lipos, heli's and charging leads in one sitting and I have to say what a pleasure it was after those ****ing Deans connectors used one of those mini pencile blow touches.

deans are brilliant connectors, i assume you couldn't solder them? hardly the connectors fault if so.

personally i prefer the XT deans version with the ribs. only my 700e has diff connectors (EC5)

    cheers

I was posting to say how much easier EC's are compaired to deans to solder, plus the sparking issue with deans is removed when using EC's, and yes I found soldering dean's very dificult.

sparking happens regardless buddy and it is a good thing but that is another debate.

no spark=no fly for me, already lost a heli due to this.

edit-this jig is brilliant for doing deans for those who still use them. WELL worth the money.

Deans are a PITA to solder, and im pretty proficient at soldering. They are terrible when using the larger gauge wire that most manufacturers are now using even on 3S 2200's.

They pit easier than EC5's, and once they start to pit the contact surface area can be greatly reduced, leading to higher resistance, and more heating effect.

I've switched from Deans to EC3s and EC5s and wont be looking back.

I agrees Deans are horrible I know many people who quit useing them, I personly like XT60 or on Bigger stuff EC5 stuff EC3 they can (not always ) be hard to pull apart, love the XT60'S

27 in one sitting! That's quite a marathon. I totally agree about both the pencil torch and EC style connectors in general.

I just started going over to EC5s but I have a much lower threshold of fatigue with soldering in general so I'm doing it a little at a time but so far I have done two ESCs and a series harness and it has all gone pretty smoothly.

                        27 EC's

I agree with raptorheli2. I can solder deans in minutes. And if done right don't fail. And same for me. Use ec5s on my 12 s machine but deans on rest of items.

Not all EC5's are created equal though, but I'm glad I persevered with them, mainly because of the good reviews on here. I couldn't get the pins in one batch to "click-in" to the shells, tried all the tips and tricks, a punch and a sledge hammer only just worked!

The next batch, the connectors pushed in with a bit of pressure from a small screwdriver.

Both batches came from ebay but not the same supplier.
