  • Given up on Heli's, Quadcopter it is!

Hi guys, after 3 years at completely failing at helicopters I finally have in. So I sold my 450 and got a quadcopter!
Now apparently they are super stable with the right flight controller so we'll see! My quad is an X525 frame and i bought it as a complete package minus the usually tx and RX. Now assembly wasn't that hard bit the landing gear and booms SUCK! The holes are stamped out and didn't lone up so I'm making better undercarriage. The quadcopter was £90 inc 3 day shipping from china!!! That's 4 decent motors and ESCs and a KK board! I'm yet to fly it and its not quite finished but the pictures show it as it is atm. What are your thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Jake!

Given up on Heli's, Quadcopter it is!

I've got an X525 quad frame. It was a bit of a PITA to get together but it flies very well! I'm using the KK2 board which makes things so much easier than its predecessor.

KK Boards are a bit fiddly and can be a pain to set up.

Naza flight controller rocks yes you pay for it but man oh man its ultra stable and add the GPS for RTH

Also look at Graupner props the basic ones you'll get are shite and cause vibration issues, and you'll wonder whats wrong with it all!

Quads are like helicopters yes you can do it cheaply but really spend a bit more and get the right kit from the beginning

Read up as much as you can on quads and LoS flying is not always easy even with a quad

Quads were the final straw for me. Bought a DJI flamewheel and it was just a peice of garbage. No wonder it was cheap. Wouldn't mind the new Cinestar Freefly 4 but that will be serious money.

Others, including myself have had much better results with DJI than you seem to have done, I wouldn't want to have people think the DJI was a poor way to start with a quad.

Naza is very good, especially as the seperate BEC is included. BUT its what 150 quid and the KK2 board was 19usd and works so well.... I've used both.

For a first quad I'd plumb for the KK2 and save for later on a GPS equipped model

Ahhh the motors keep turning on their own accord at idle, like they are compensating. I have played around with the gains but no joy, any ideas?
                      Thanks,
