  • A visit to QuickUK today

Today I had the chance to visit Bud at QuickUK, and meet up with Graham (Heathy) to collect our shiny new Futaba 18MZ's.

Well what a surprise I was in for!! All these years I was under the impression that Bud just specialised in beautifully machined and anodised upgrade heli parts. Well I was truly wrong!!

I was greeted with a warm welcome, and offered a coffee straight away. The first thing you see when you enter the shop (It's a modern industrial unit, with the shop upstairs on a mezzanine floor) is the vast stock levels, and array of different helis there. Behind the main shop floor, there are numerous 'walls' of spare parts all very well laid out and tidy. This place is a proper mans cave!!

Kits on sale include Goblin 700 and 770's, Alees Rush 750, Gaui X7, Rapters and of coarse the obligatory Align range including the new 800 Trekker and camera gimble system. Also there are plenty of second hand models for sale, with lots of scale helis hanging up so plenty for every taste.

The range of equipment on sale was also very impressive, with FBL controllers, Radio's, Receivers, etc all on display, with a large range of Radix blades available as well.

I took the liberty to take some photo's while there, because I was so impressed with this shop, that I did not even realise was a shop as such!!

If your in the market for a new heli or spares, it is defiantly worth giving Bud a call to see what deal he may be able to do for you. He did for me after I called for a price on my new Tx, and he matched the best price I could find on the net.

Many thanks for your time Bud, it was a pleasure to meet you, and also great to meet up with Graham again.

Rob. Good catching up again mate, always a pleasure.

Budd is indeed one of the industry's good guys always helping out with the big purchases and the tiny ones! I've lost count of the times I've walked in asking for some kind of tiny spacer / stand off only too find exactly what I want.

He stocks most of the quality equipment around today and if its not there he can get it too.

Like you said too, not a lot of people know about the retail side of things there either, with upgrades being the thing most think of.
It sure is good to have someone like Budd locally in this hobby as many times its just a short trip and I have the bits i need straight away.

So if your reading this thread be sure to check out the website, you might just be surprised at what you might find!!

Nice write up Rob. Always find Budd friendly and helpful. And usually has those extra little bits needed or can get them in quick. (Pun not intended lol).

May be people that are coming to Grassroots should stop in ether on the way or home.
Wouldn't be too far out the way if you used the 303 or M4

I popped in there a few weeks back with the father in law in tow just to get a servo extension cable. Tea/coffee was on offer immediately, ended up staying nearly an hour just chatting and checking out the store! Top place indeed!

+1 on Quick UK, always my 1st port of call for parts, new helis etc now. Budd's a top guy and always makes you feel welcome and nothing is to much trouble. Great having a shop so near rather than always having to wait for snail mail to to deliever as well.

Nice write up guys.....In my first year of this hobby i was jealous of people 'popping in' the other good uk model shops till i discovered Quick uk was only 20 minutes away from both my home and flying field.Budd is a top bloke who will help you out with anything big or small.

Nothing is added to the coffee either

I have never mail ordered from him but those i know who have done it have been impressed with the speed of service.

                  Again Rob,great write up

Wish there was somewhere like this in or near Essex/London borders. Might not be good for my bank balance mind you.

Thanks for the heads up on Quick UK. I have just saved a fortune on bits to re-build my Goblin 700. I shall keep an eye on them in the future. Shame they didn't have Goblin Blades though.
