  • Cracking present :)

A friend from works Husband has been trying to pass this plane on to me for about a year now, but with our paths never crossing it just didnt happen.

Yesterday our two families met for afternoon tea, and look what I got

    photo(28).jpgphoto(27).jpg

Its a scratchbuilt F3A class pattern ship buy the looks of things. I havent even measured the span yet, but its big. Powered by a 61 2 stroke with rear exit exhaust and an in body tuned pipe, with just the deflector emerging from the fuselage....

Looks awesome, just needs a tiny bit of TLC to get it back flying plus a receiver and battery pack.... It amases me that the old owner was flying this on a 4cell NimH pack with 1800mAh capacity!, still I think we get blinkered eyes with our helis.

Yeah, there is definitely something very nice about plank flying.

Once the plane is setup, apart from engine bearings occasionally, and chipped or broken props, there is very little that you need to do to keep them in working order. The flying is much more relaxing too, with something big like this, it shouldnt be effected by the wind much, so should be nice and stable 'hands off'.

It has servo operated retracts, which is going to take a bit of programming though, at it seems to be a two stage affair, but then it shouldnt be too difficult

James, I also have an AR8000 (Brand new Unused) if you need it.

Not sure if I want to be associated with a smelly plank flier..... , but as you've helped me in the past and for sure will do in the future....., I suppose I can, as long as I wear a mask and maintain my anonymity

Thats a pretty nice gift! Id be well chuffed with that.

I remember using a 4.8v 1200mah Nicad on my old Ripmax Gambler £8 Futaba S3003 Servos and a £60 Thunder Tiger .42 two stroke. God planking is so much cheaper!

Im hovering over the buy button for a Acro Wot with a nice .70 four stroke. The dark side is still in me...

Go for it and buy it, nothing wrong with a bit of smooth relaxed PLANE flying you lot are just running scared, no need to be afraid of the smelly people with there planes guys!

Its nice not to have to try super hard just to keep it in the air, perfect for a lazy evenings flight when your whirly bird is having a rest! I say we beat plane flyers at there own game XD!!!!
"According to recognized aero technical tests, the bumblebee cannot fly because of the shape and weight of his body in relation to the total wing area. The bumblebee doesn't know this, so he goes ahead and flies anyway." - Igor Sikorsky

One thing I have noticed, is that my plank flying is sooooo much better now im a heli flyer too.

One massive advantage we have over plank only flyers is that we can use both sticks at the same time

Thanks for the two offers of AR8000s from Shauny and Porcheboy.

Unfortunately no money in the kitty at the moment, so will have to make do with what I have, though am loathed to go back to using the spare FrSky receivers I have and my old FF8

Push the button..... with a 70 4-stroker in it, it will be lovely. I've flown one with a 60 2-stroke and it was an uncontrollable rocket at full throttle

It looks even better in the flesh.

Just one small war wound on one of the wing tips, which will fix easy enough.
