  • Charger advice required

Ok so I'm fed up with having 3 different chargers for my 3 blade helis (1s,2s and 3s) So I want to consolodate into 1 charger and get rid of the other 3.

I would like to be able to charge all 3 types at the same time, so have been looking at the quad chargers available, I have 3 in mind as possible candidates.

So I've come up with these 3 so far

    Gt Power x drive 6 (4x60w)
GT POWER X Drive-6 4 Chargers in 1 (2 screen version) LiPo, NiMH, etc: Demon Products

sky rc imax b6 quattro (4x50w)
IMAX Quattro B6 Balance Charger Charger O-SKYCHB6Q

Turnigy 4x6s 400w (4x100w) but only available from HK

I would also consider a dual channel with a little more power so could charge the 130x 2s batts and the 300x 3s batts

I haven't got a huge budget for the big boy 1000w chargers, I just need something that will do the job, so any advice appreciated

I ve been looking at psu's as well and looks like a psu from computer would be up to the job once converted (I'm sure I ve got a 750w psu sitting around.

      i use 2x Lipro Quad 6's
i have used them for 2 seasons now and they has been faultless,
coupled with a Ripmax 10A PSU and a Pro peak 20A PSU

i use these as i can charge each of my 50cc Planes in 1 go,
      ie
      RX Nimh
      Ignition Nimh
      Smoke Pump Lipo
      TX Nimh

or they will charge 4x 6cell lipos for my trex 500 at 2.5Amps each so they take about 1.25 hrs to do all 4 which isnt too bad in my opinion

i am sure someone is selling one with PSU in the for sale section

the reason i went with these is i had had single Lipro chargers before and they have always worked, there was some stories of early hobbyking chargers blowing up, but they should have sorted this by now

        Thanks

I've read a little in the forums about the hk chargers and they still seem to suffer from faults ie; ports not working, error messages and just plain blowing up, I dont want to get a budget charger that wont last.

Ideally I would like to charge all my batteries in near enough one go, If I'm correct, parallel charging 3x 3s 1350mah batts at 1 c = 51.03 watts factoring charger losses would need at least 60+ watts to do this. ( i've got 6x 3s batts so would use 2 ports for these and then parallel my 3x 2s 450mah 130x batts on another port.

Still getting my head round amps, watts, volts calculations and parallel charging so I could be wrong ( and may very well be)

On the other hand I could get a dual port charger with more umph (400+ watt) and charge all 6 3s batts on one port and the 3 2s batts on another.

        I'm so confused lol

Talk to Chris at Electriflyer ...

          Homepage

Very knowledgable chap. Sells the iCharger series which I can't fault. Personally I use the 106b to charger my mcpx (1S), 130x (2S), 450 (3S) and 500 (6S) lipos.
