  • Trex 700 DFC Nitro engine not fitting base plate.

Well, I certainly haven't been a good boy this year, but at least I didn't get caught and Santa brought me a Trex 700 DFC.

However, seem to have a small problem in that I can't get the Carbon Fibre base plate to fit with the engine installed - the hole in it is way too small to fit over the engine head (actually it seems to small for the 50 size head on my 600).

So, what do I do? Do I cut the hole bigger or not bother putting the base plate on - there's metal structs at the bottom of the model that hold the side frames together, so the base plate does seem a bit superfluous.

The engine is a OS 91HZ-R and doesnt seem oversized - it fits into the engine fan cover without any problems.

    Cheers,
    Matthew

      Hey.

Silly question I know, but does the plate need rotating 180 degree's, have you got it back to front?

Hopefully these show the problem (Sorry about the picture quality).

The first image shows the back of the engine mounted, the second shows the base plate laying in position, but resting on the back on the engine as the hole is too small for it to fit through and the 3rd image is the side few showing the gap between the base plate and the bottom of the heli frame.

i think Tony is on the money with your engine mounts.

my ys120 fits no probs in my 700n dfc is all i can say and i assume heads are similar size.

                cheers

Unfortuantly not - simple numpty fixes are easy - the engine mounts are the right way up. If the weren't then the problem would be worse.

Looking at images of the 105, the 91hxr has a squarer head. However, Midland Heli and Fast lads both sell the model with either engine as an option, so its not as if I've just simple got the wrong engine.

I have the same problem ??
And the engine mounts are on the right way round
I had to dremel some of the base plate away

This is also a kit that I got for xmas

Weird, can you send some other general pics of the heli?

Again I have a 105 that fits just fine. Either upside down engine mounts I reckon (make sure theres a thread in the bottom of them) or god knows what...maybe its just an engine that dont fit!

Well, I guess that's sort of good news if I'm not the only one and shall dig out my own dremel tomorrow :-)

As the manual explicitly mentions the 105 HZ, and its the one drawn in the diagrams maybe that that's whats they used when designing the model and about the only one that fits. Either that or there's batch of 700s about where the hole in the base plate is just a bit too small.

Only thing that dont is the bottom plate !
                            I have built 5 or 6 600s 2 or 3 700s n9s vibes the lot
and I am an engineer so I am not new to this !!
The engine is all fitted as per manual !!
but head is to big for the hole
My engine is an OS 91HZR
