"Because of signal interference, only one player at a time can send his toy aircraft aloft"

Have they not heard of 2.4g ?

helihead - quite so my friend, but your preaching to the converted I'm afraid. The point of the 'standards' journalistic piece is that folk like their editor are actually pretty ignorant and don't care how seriously you regard your toy heli. The fact that also its written in a chinese environment has tended toward some pidgeon English - hence my tongue in cheek post above.
I'm sure their written efforts would similarly anger any niche activity hobbyists or sports players, by referring to whatever activity in a condescending, crass and ignorant manner. Thats how tabloids 'make news' matey, accuracy of reporting is not a factor they are likely worry about - unless they pick on the editors fav sport/hobby of course...........

rcheli - thanks for your witty and informative input ! I was commenting lightly upon the reason for our beloved hobby being refered to as 'Toys' by their local rag - but if ya got somthin' personal to say I'll see ya in the flame pit.....

I do hope he fully recovers from his injurys.

It's a risk we all run though, it's part and parcel of the hobby.

Theres's no such thing as a certainty where radio control is concerned, even 2.4g is just a fragile electromagnetic signal sent through the ether, a radio link can fail at any time for any number of reasons, coupled with that, we are all human beings and humans are prone to human error, mechanical things are prone to mechanical failure.

Accidents will happen, all we can do is try to do everything we can to minimise the chances.

My neighbour asked me last year why i never take my 7 year old son to the flying field, i said if a heli goes out of control i will gladly throw myself in front of him to protect him but who can i absolutely trust to do that while i am flying?

God forbid an accident should happen to me but if it does i won't be saying i didn't know there was a possibility it could happen, it's like smoking or riding motorcycles, you do it because you enjoy it and accept the dangers.

By the way i gave up motorcycles 8 years ago and smoking 5 years ago, i consider flying Heli's much much safer than either of the above .

Hope the guy recovers. Even my little ol' 3ch can hurt if it hits you. And when it does I've usually already dropped it for that reason, so it's thankfully a trousered leg it hits. Even so it still lets you know it.

Sounds like it was just one of those unlucky incidents
I hope he makes a full and speedy recovery.

Keep us posted with any more updates please.
Mr. LAW was transferred out from the ICU yesterday. He is rehabilitating well from his traumatic brain injury in the normal ward. Thank God.
