DX8 updates

Hi ime wanting to update my dx8 from 2.02 to 2.06 the problem is ime a plonker with computers and have spent all day trying to sort the download thing out but no luck , 6 hours just to register !!!!
can i send my sd card off to HH for an update on the card and then transfer it to my DX8 or do i need to send the radio back to be updated

you just need to download the update, copy it to the SD card, and then insert it into your dx8 and turn it on, and the dx8 will update automatically.

Nothing needs to go back to HH

ive tryed downloading the update but my pc says it cant read the download and when ime promted to download a reader there are gremlins in the download wich my pc says are harmful
and how do you download to an sd card

The file is downloaded ... you then need either an SD card slot in a laptop or a USB card-reader to put it onto the SD card for the DX8 .... you then put the file straight on the card and the transmitter detects the file and updates itself. .. you don't 'run' it or do anything with it on your PC other than downloading it and copying it

As highlightshadow says, you dont need to do anything to the update or open it on your computer. It is a filetype that is specific to the transmitter.

To copy it onto the SD card, you need to have a way of reading the SD card, either a card reader, or your computer or printer may have a specific slot for it. If not they are available from ebay or amazon for a couple of quid.

You then need to copy the file from your download folder, to the SD card, and then plug it into your transmitter.

If you really get stuck, you can mail me your SD card, and your spektrum log in details and I will put it on the card for you.

You must not use anyone elses file or SD card, as the download is specific to your transmitters serial number, and another download or SD card wont work.

I had trouble for a long time trying to get downloads for my dx8's
I used to get a mate to download them then email it to me after.
So he logs in to my account with Specktrum then saves file which emails to me. Copy that to Sd. Load that into dx8.
All because one of the windows settings wouldn't let me.
Tried everything before even turning off the internet security

There isn't anything particularly new, the last update was back in September:

Software Features

• Automatically corrects sub-trim and travel for models created in version 2.04 and
earlier after prompting the user. This is functional both for models already in
your radio, and for any you import from an SD card. You should always verify
operation of a model when making any updates prior to flying it.
Software Corrections

• P-Link Master Trainer mode was using trainer data for channels GEAR and
higher.

• When a channel is reversed the endpoint adjustment worked on the opposite
side from what was expected.

• Improved French translations.

• Added SD logfile indicator to main screens.

NOTE: This change affects sub-trim and travel of existing models and ones you will
import. You should double-check sub-trims and travel on any reversed control surfaces
in both airplanes and helicopters when using models created in version 2.04 and earlier.
