  • mess inside the canopy

I'm getting what seems to be unburned fuel thrown forward inside the canopy on my raptor 50.
I seem to have eliminated all fuel leaks.
I think this is fuel spraying out of the carb while the motor is ticking over - I remember my HP40 doing that on my plank when I was a lad. If so then probably its inevitable.
    Is that the case?
I don't think I've been going backwards long or fast enough to explain it and it looks too clean to be exhaust.
    Any info/ideas?

Now just a thought here moysboy, You had a tank that was leaking only a week or so back and repaired it.

I know there is a lot of pressure inside when in motion, You sure it ist a "very fine" spray from the tank area getting in there.

was gonna say I get just about no fuel at all inside my canopy.

Although have noticed since playing with it inverted, the back end gets absolutely covered, including the tail servo, which is not impressive.
      All the best

I dont get it inside the canpoy, but I do get it around the clip and the front skid. I have seen it dripping off when carrying the heli to the square, so I assume it is from the carb (it is still pink in colour).

Not related to moyesboy's problem but this is one of the reasons why I changed to electric.

Sorry for going off topic a little.

I'm sure I'm leak free at the tank now. A lot less fuel on the frames and underside.

Its on the front leg and underside canopy clip, and building up under the lip on the underside of the canopy in a pool.

I will try fiddling with the tick over mixture. Last thing I did was richen it a lot which cured it from stopping as it opened up. As I have a mid range needle on this carb there is no need for over rich tick over.

              Mine does that.
OS 50s spit it out through the carb. That's 2 strokes for yer ;-)

I use baby wipes as well from Aldi in Germany when we were on Holiday last year! Stil not ran out yet, I think I use about two per trip to the field.

Aldi, Auto-XS bug and tar wipes (for cars).
Baby wipes are probably cheaper, but these get any marks off - probably all your decals as well.

My os 50 is throwing alot of unburnt fuel about at the moment, but this is down to the fact it is running richer due to the lower temperatures at the moment, i am keeping it slightly rich as it is a new engine so the heli is getting quite messy .

I was just doing some maintenance - changing the pinion bearing on my rappy.

I found my problem with the fuel inside the canopy.

Motor didn't tick over very well and was difficult to start.
It seemed to have little compression on the up stoke but a good seal on the down stroke

Have you worked it out yet?

There was no sealing washer on the glow plug, and it was leaking quite a bit (even though the glow plug was tight).
