Can a 4s 2300mah lipo be used on a 450 size heli, I would be using the stock 35amp ESC ??

that on 4s would most likely make the heli explode due to too high RPM. would also kill the ESC and be nose heavy as well.TREX 700E DFC SK540

I've thought about trying 4S LiFe. You have to watch the gearing and the motor kv to get the max revs right. The motor needs to be rated to 4S as mentioned, and you'll need a SBEC rated to 4S or a separate battery. I don't see why a 3S motor shouldn't be run on 4S if you keep the throttle down to a safe level and limit the current as well. No motor is safe on any voltage if you load it enough. A motor may be sold as usable on a 450 at 3S for typical use, whatever that means. Brushless motors don't really know about volts except via the esc and the esc will never switch the volts on all the time as in a brushed motor. By brushless I mean our sort of motors with 3 wires. A 3S motor is probably best used on 3S unless you really know better. If you want better performance a smaller higher C battery would save weight.Flasher 450 Sport. To lift more you need more thrust. The amount you can lift is equal to the change of momentum of the air that you can shift through the blades in one second. So you need bigger blades and or higher revs. The smaller the heli the more difficult that will be for a given lift. Momentum is mass x velocity. With props the best results for thrust were with large props and the best for speed was small props. Looks like you need to keep the revs as low as possible and use as much collective as you can to keep the velocity of the airflow low. Doesn't sound right to me though, seems to be the opposite of what I'd expect. Things are often like that though.Flasher 450 Sport. Assan GA250 with 520 tail servo, MKS DS450 cyclic.

Thanks for the advice people
Having said that the biggest difference would probably come from semi symmetrical blades as they will give more lift for the same RPM.TREX 700E DFC SK540
