  • New to Vbar, Heli feels really sensitive, any words of wisdom?

    Hi all,
Following an issue with a very out of balance stock motor I've now got my new Embla rebuilt. I tested it briefly last night and it feels super touchy (sensitive?) around centre stick. It's almost as if it had positive expo. It wanders and "dances" about a bit on spool up too. If I let go of the sticks it seems to stay put perfectly. I had no expo on cyclic or tail in the TX since it appears common practice to use either the TX or the Vbar (I used the default values from the Vbar, 15% cyclic, 50% tail)

It aslo has an undesirable quality I find difficult to describe, as if it overreacts to what I command. I can fly a heli with no expo but this feels a little different.

I'll post some screenshots of my Vbar setup soon.

I'm new to the Vbar and don't really want to spend too much time at the (cold) field with my laptop if there's something obvious I'm missing.

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

+1, set the agility to precise and it will be better.

+1 Bare in mind that even a few notches on the agility slider makes a massive difference. So if you are tweaking that do it a bit at a time.

Agility is not that bad there. I have mine on 100. It depends how docile you like the feel though or what you are used to

Beastx and Brain is what I'm used to but i don't necessarily want it to feel like that, just not like it does now.vbar2.JPGvbar1.JPG

I found this too on my Rave , I run 110 on agility around 80 on precision and 50% expo on cyclics in the TX , I feel you hav a lack of expo issue

as you said dont run expo in v bar and TX it confuses things !

I once tried the Rave without Expo , that scared the bejesus out of me !!!
Have fun and remember with FBL your lappy IS your friend !!!! LOL

You may find you have to tweak it for a few weeks before you are totally happy with how it feels. Just try knocking the agility down and play with the vivid- style slider. Did you fly it on Express first or did you upgrade to Pro straight away?

What swash response setting did you use on your Beast? Did you have a low or high value?

                      Rachel,
Thank you for that, considering the two helis are quite similar I'll give your settings a shot (what's the worst that can happen )
                      It's probably a size thing.

                      SaneAdam,
I've not tried a Beastx on this particular heli (on my Fusion and Protos) and a Brain on my 600 EFL. I upgraded to pro straight away before the heli was configured. I think I'll give Rachels settings a blast and tweak from there.
Beastx is set to TX and 100% at flight mode 3.

                      Cheers all.

                        Rachel,
When you say "Precision" are you referring to "style" ?
                        Cheers D

Would it be worth running the control loop optimisers?

Yes, run them for a good 3 or 4 flights. Watch the Mr Mel videos on the best way to use the Vbar optimisers
