Sorry if this isn't the appropriate place for this, but is anyone else having problems with their posts on Windows 8 Pro (normal PC) / IE 10 ?? My return key doesn't work but it only seems to be this forum. I have a Sidewinder X6 gaming keyboard so it COULD be the driver for that, but so far I only seem to have the issue with this site...

    Try Chrome.

Or to fix the problem completely remove the malware from your system. Do this by taking out the hard disk containing windows 8 and post it back to microsoft with the words NOT FIT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION clearly written on the outside of the package.

Thanks - but as a Windows and Surface developer, I'd rather not, it might be somewhat damaging to my profession. Any serious suggestions?

Apple have some jobs going. - sorry daft mood at this time of night.

In short no, no serious suggestions other than plug in a standard USB keyboard and re-test. As a senior systems engineer I can honestly say Windows 8 has more holes in it than any other OS yet.

Yes, it does seem to be a problem specific to IE10, Firefox is fine on W8 though.

Edit: Just checked a few other places and the problem does seem to just be here on this forum.

Just here, other vbulletin forums are working fine.

I need W8 for testing other software so it has to be on a couple of my machines, but to be honest I'm not really seeing any issues with it.

Nothing vital that would prompt an upgrade either if you are already on W7, but for normal 'home' use there really isn't a problem.

Happy to help test though Stuart, let me know if you need anything.

Thanks for confirming it's an issue with the forum and not just myself guys. Not sure why such hostility in the world regarding W8 whenever anyone that chooses to use it asks a question!! It's here to stay whether people like it or not. Personally I love it and am embracing working with it. I'll admit the built in mail app sucks big time with IMAP at the moment, other than that, this enter key problem is the only one I've come across.

From what I've understood W8 is great if your tablet based but clunky if your a software user such as adobe suites and other mainstream softwares. I personally am happy with 7 didn't see a need to change and I'm not sure if microsoft actually knows where it wants to go. So many others have by passed them from Apple to Google and Samsung even that I think they are clutching at straws of idea's to try and make themselves look like there moving forward.
                        Cheers

That is a commonly held view, but frankly after about 30 mins finding where everything is it is no more 'clunky' than W7, just different.

It pretty much boils down to no more 'Start' button so if you were commonly selecting software from there you'll notice the changes more, but if you pin your main tools to the task bar or use desktop icons then you'll barely notice a difference.

Absolutely, and well said. What bugs me more than any bugs that there may be in the OS is the constant people queuing up ready to bash it. Especially when if you dig under the surface a lot of them haven't even tried it, they're just regurgitating what they've heard! For those people that have genuinely installed it or bought something with it on and have genuinely tried it, and genuinely not liked it or got on with it then fair enough, we're not all the same and we don't all like change. Plus even if we do like change, not everyone is going to like the new. I've personally spent a lot of time on Windows, OS X and Linux, and I currently have a PC that dual boots between Mountain Lion and W8 and currently I much prefer W8 - OS X is starting to feel old to me. But I guess that may change again. Who knows!

So anyway, back to the original point of the post, for now I'll sit tight and see if anyone can find any issues to resolve, or Tapatalk get's ported to Windows RT (yeah, right!), and in the meantime unfortunately any posts I make will just have to be one big rambling paragraph I realise I could install some other browser but as the main purpose of this PC is to be my gaming PC I like to install as little as possible in addition to the games.
