I would be interested in how much clubs are paying for fields?

Our indoor club charges £20 per year + BMFA and then so much per Tuesday night session depending upon where we are. The nightly flying fee is between £3 and £7, but we are paying up to £120 per night rent. On top of that we have a superb outdoor flying facility to which we have about 90% access to during the week and maybe 50% at weekends and the rent from that is funded by the indoor element of the club.

I'm keen to find an alternative/additional outdoor field but have no idea what a sensible rent is?

£75 quid I believe I paid (or was it £85?) for Phoenix UAV club @ Bath. Anyway - access to the field pretty much all the time (inbetween any lessons). Club house, coffee, biscuits and Bill's famous toasted sandwiches!

                I'd rather pay a farmer.
Helicopter pilots get it up quicker.

£50 a year plus insurance of your choice. Mixed heli and plane club. We used to have two fields but reduced to one now, no hut or toilets but you can fly out of the boot of your car so no walking to and from the strip

Coffee & biscuits & toasted sandwiches are paid for via voluntary donations to the Tea Tin, they are not free as your post kind of suggests Tom
Phoenix is ok but is getting very over crowded now which is why I've moved on to another club their fees are only £56 a year & they have a 7 1/2 acre field with no Tree of Doom
or Ross's tree as its become known

£100 per year including BMFA insurance two flying sites both in remote locations so no mains. Another aspect to this thread is how many of you get involved with the maintanence of the sites ie grass cutting hedge trimming etc, the older retired guys tend to take care of the grass cutting but once a year we try to have a get together just to trim hedges prune trees and a general tidy up of the sites and its always supprising how few turn out to help.

Thats a good point the CMFA contracted the grass cutting out and they did keep it nice...at Flamebirds you could not fly every other Sunday as there was a clay shoot held there I dont like having any restrictions on times or IC engines use or anything like that and its got to be 7 days a week.....

I have my own 32 acre field but i really wouldn't mind paying to be in a club, just struggling to find a local one.
I would say about £100 is reasonable.

I pay £35 at one club, and £65 at the other. Last year one of those clubs lost its field, so I'm keeping a membership at two clubs for the time being.
Current fleet: Goblin Thunder Sport (700), Trex 700L, Logo 600, Specter 700, Henseleit TDR, V-Baaa control.
Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.

thats the sort of figure i am looking at to start with as there will be start up costs .As you say theres not many sites around and even less that want to put up with helis and planks .hopefully if i can manage with 20 members that are willing to pay for good quality flying i will be well happy.the last club was 90 +bmfa and the one i am with now is 90 including ins but its not ideal as its on the top of a hill with a north to south flight line:-(

                                Price of club membership....

I'm never sure why people moan at club fees. These people that moan need to go and try to set up a club.

For me anything under 50 pounds is cheap. Know and seen what running a club costs.

I even payed 250 to fly my jets a year on a private tarmac strip only jets and only 5 people.

Depends what you get for your money and if you think it's value for the fees
