  • First ever nose-in

Pretty chuffed. Just managed 3x3 minute nose-in hovers with mcpx.
Never tried it before but figured it was high time I started.

Was a bit wobbly first couple minutes but did get hang of it.

Pleased with it and at least it's a start on a new skill

    Woot!!

Yeah ... was less intimidating on the tiny heli ... be a whole other story trying on one of my 500 or 600 class helis
Still at the early stages of learning even though i've been at this since about Feb but slowly slowly catchy monkey
Next step is refining my circuits and figures 8's to get them cleaner and slow them down (in prep for BMFA A) and clean up stall turns
Then i can move onto the circuits/8's with nose-in elements rather than the tail-in versions i'm doing now.

              THen....then....then.....then.............. it never ends

Sweet. . . I found circuits frustrating and fiddly until I started to get slow piro hovers going. Slow piro hovers came from the four orientation hover practice - hovering each (of the classic four) orientation for ten seconds, then eight, then four, then two, then one second. Once you get down to one second in each orientation, you're not far off pirouetting. . .

Once you get piro hovers going, slow circuits make so much more sense. No more drifting off into the distance!

That's how it is working for me, anyhow. . . I'm no great pilot, but at a similar stage to yourself (got my first mcpx in Feb) and like sharing my experiences!

                Onward and upwards!

Remember my first nose-in" so know the feeling, well done.! I learnt on my 500 & kept at it to the point of being able to take off nose-in with all my heli's so take my advise & keep pushing yourself so you don't loose the experience.
Circuits & 8's is matter of getting to work on your left hand (stick control) to maintain level height once you've mastered that you will have already taken control of cyclic speed.
So now your at this skill/level of fight your right hand knows what to do without any thinking.!!! so start trying to do circuits & 8's both ways, if your left handed that's the one that now needs all the sympathy.
Today's outlook is fine for flying.

Yeah ... my height & speed vary way too much on maneuvers and needs lots of work but stick time is getting limited and i just cannot ever seem to get serious and happy with Phoenix.
But i'm happy that i've done another new thing and i feel i am making progress even if its not at lightning speed.
