Ever have one of those days?

I've been thinking of an Align T-Rex 250 3gx heli to fill a gap and give me access to some smaller patches of ground while winter is nearly upon us (dont' want to travel too far). So I look at the price and I think, hmmmmm, a little over £300 with Spekky sat. Then I see the 300X at Midland is just over £200 and I'm like PHWWEEEEEPPPPPPPPP!!!! Steam from my ears. Now I have to ask myself, did I fire 5 bulle.... rather was I unlucky with my 300X in that it didn't play nice or should I just bit that sixth bullet and go Align?

The problem I had with the 300X is it would occasionally do its own thing and ignore what I wanted. That time it just rolled over and headed to the deck springs to mind, nothing from me made a jot of difference. Seemed to have random ignoritis of tx.

See? I'm now on a darn nife edge. Retry the 300X or go for the 250 fbl.

Thing is - mechanically it couldn't have been the 300x that had "ignoritis" - it would have had to have been the Tx or Rx (ie. the AR7200bx). In which case, an Align 250 could potentially suffer the same fate! - no?

I would say you were probably unlucky, the 300X is a great little machine. I love the versatility of it. The 250 is also a awesome little machine.

I would flip a coin, I keep eyeing up the 300X.... Either way I think you'll enjoy either!!!!

i wouldnt bother with either, save your hard earned cash, and enjoy what you have, the 250 fbl is a handful and difficult to work on imo, never flown the 300x only seen it, but with the problems you've already expirienced is it worth it, you have the 130x and a 450 so nothing needed in between, i have a 250 fbl and it very rarely comes out to play

I had a 250SE and couldn't get on with it. However, I'm a little more experienced now and could probably make the most of it. The new FBL versions are supposed to be ok. Proceed with caution is my advice.

Same here, Never got on with my 250 flybarred, I guess the FBL is a total different fish. I'm tempted with a 300x now they're a resonable price... if its cr@p I'll just take the AR7000BX out and use it on something else!

At the prices currently it certainly is hard to say no! £214.00 for a £140 flybarless unit, at £74 for the model is awesome!

That's fair comment. I found the 300X a handful when it was behaving.

Tom: I agree. I wonder if that's why the 450 is being a sod - it has the 300X's AR7200BX. The 500 flies a dream. The 450 is an absolute pig. Sounds like the BX doesn't it

                          Nah, you're good

I must admit I'm aiming toward an Align fleet.

DELBMX: That's what happened to my 300X, BX went into an Align 450, and the 450X BX went into an Align 500efl.

Hum,i would'nt bother with a 250 or the 300x....the 130x you have is a better small space heli simply because it can take a few bashes.

People who say the 250 is great can generally fly really well....the 130x video i posted the other day is a good example of how a cheap little heli can actually be flown by a talented pilot. They need high headspeeds too.

The 250 crashes like a 450,lots of bent and broken parts....stick with Limpy

                            I would rather have 2 x 130s over a 250.

As anyw said, my take on it would be not to get into the Trex 250. It's basically like a smaller 450 only very fiddly and difficult to work on, very fragile in a crash etc. and I don't think you'd really find it much help in terms of flying in a smaller space, I think the 130x should really fit that bill.

Where the 250 'might' come into its own could be indoor flying but once again with the 130x I'd think that's the more practical solution as well.

For indoor I think I'd rather a really big electric scale heli where the motor and blade noise would be a deafening roar echoing around the indoor space and scaring the life out of anyone nearby, but that's prob just me :-)
