  • Best BNF electric heli for under £150

    Hi,
I have a Trex 450 which is all pimped up and to be honest I'm to scared to fly it so I recently purchased an E-Flight MRS BNF which I think is great and its doing heaps for my confidence.
I want to move up to a slightly larger heli and was wondering what recommendations the forum has? I had my eye on the E-Flight 130x but wanted to check all my options I thought this would be a great place to start.

    tx is a DX6i

    Thanks in advance
    Darren

The 130x flies well for its size, a bit fiddly to work on, still very good though imo. There is also the new nano cpx, which is very durable in a crash.

      you have a few options:

      1: Blade 450 3D (Great trainer)
      2: Blade 450X (Poweeeerrrr)
3: Blade 300x (great size and plenty of power)
      4: Nano CPX (indestructible)
      5: McpX (Great trainer again)
6: 130x (Great heli and a good introduction to flybarless and brushless power)

I would go with the 450 3d or the 300x, both cheap to repair and can be flown out doors and can be set up for a begginer to expert pilot

      Hope this helps

        Thanks both for the responses.
I wanted something a little bigger than the MSR and I believe the nano is the same size?!?
Hi John, a few of them may be out of my price range unless a used one pops up on ebay, I assume the 450 3d is the same size as the trex? I assume its much more stable?

The 450-3d will be very similar to your trex - just cheaper construction. The 3D bit is blades indication if a flybar rather than flybarless model (which is the 450x)

Personally I'd recommend the 130x. Top heli IMHO

Yes the 450 will be a little less powerful then your T-Rex and because everyone is looking for the 450 X version you can pick up the 450 3d really cheep if you look around

but the 130x is great, and it will teach you a lot

+1 on the 130x. Its a great heli when it flies properly. Spares are a stupid price so upgrade the blade grips, a gear, main shaft and tail slider to lynx or rakon ones and you should find that 90% of crashes are free .

Over 100 crashes on mine - half of them not on throttle hold and only damage was a main grip, boom canopy and stock main shaft.

                Got a simulator?

For under £150 it has to be the 130X,all i have broken is the tail fin in excess of 150 flights now including around 80 crashes.

I vote 130X, too. It flies like a bigger heli and can handle a surprising amount of wind (once competent enough).

The 300X is a less intimidating version of the 450X (since it is smaller) but it is a frisky animal, nowhere near as cool, calm and collected as it's bigger sibling. Crash costs equal 450X crash costs sooooo, well, it has less intimidating size going for it.

450X, any 450 looks huge untill you get to grips with it. However, after flying a 500 the 450 now looks tiny. After a Raptor 50 for a couple of hours the 450 now looks 250 size.

So, it's all relative really. The 450 would be your friend but the size is off-putting (I agree). My preference is forget the 300X and go 130X. Get some work put in with that and then try your 450. The 450's are not the brutes they appear to be.

130x all the way. It's the best £140 I have ever spent in this hobby. Great fun to fly, takes a crash remarkebly well and is just a complete laugh. We had loads of fun with mine on Sunday as the 2 resident hot shot pilots were trying to out do each other. 4 point tick tocks were the challenge as well as skid bumps and inverted flyby's trying to cut the grass. Great fun, loads of crashes (some of them very hard) and it lives to fly another day with no damage at all. 5 Nano teck batteries from hobby king will cost you £20 and you're charging and flying for ages. Mine has really helped with the fear factor as I know when I bin it (and it's usualy 2 or 3 times a flight as I'm pushing my limited talent) I pick it up and fly again.

                        Just get one!

There's a Blade 450 3d on the bmfa classifieds (or there was on Sunday) for £170 ono. If you're really cheeky you may get close to your price. It doesn't have batteries or charger but you shouldn't need them (i'm presuming that the Trex uses the same lipos).
