Do you keep Spares?

How much spares do you keep for your heli? Do you keep two of every part so that you can repair and fly the next day?

Just spent all of my £500 credit at FL on spares for my 700le. There are still loads I'd need to get two of everything!

i had enough spares to put a seccond heli together! so i did!!
dosent really matter how many spares you carry, at the end of the day you will end up needing the one thing that you dont have.

Nope, although i am hoarding Radix blades lol, probably the most expensive item youll need to replace after a crash so that softens the blow alittle. I have a few booms and mainshafts other than that but usually order what i need so i can fix it up ready for the following weekend.

You never know what you are going to need, and sods law says you wont have all of the bits, so I just order as and when I need.

Id rather hold onto my money in the first instance, and spend it when required.. that way I can take a view on whether it is really worth it, or just go for a new airframe.

Not on purpose, Have spares left over for my 550 because you get two in a pack for some things. Its not cost effective to keep them in stock espescially as there's sometimes new things coming out etc.

i do the same but i carry bearings, main gears, feathering shafts , this keeps me in the air then i order to replace , now if i could just save my main blades when i go in i would be happy

+1 I try to buy blades when I have spare cash, at least it softens the blow by £70 when you order parts.

I like to have blades and canopies As Tony says, these are the most expensive item so it softens the blow.

Everything else I will order as needed. I have a few bits lying around like dampners and some bits but I stopped wasting money on spares as I would tend to sell the heli before I needed the spares so was losing to much money all the time.

Also as I only fly every weekend at best I can order parts from anywhere in the world and have them here by the weekend

Yep, got a drawer full of 500 spares - enough to build a second heli easily, maybe two ... When I crash I like to go home and start fixing, not ordering and waiting!

I do and I don't.

I have a load of 450 spares due to me buying all sorts of kits and upgrades over time.

On my other helis, I just buy spares as I crash and keep extra parts that come in sets of two, or are replaced by upgrades.

I only fly at weekends, and not very often then as I don't have my own car, yet, so waiting for spares isn't a problem.
