  • BMFA or FPVUK

My BMFA membership ends soon and I see that the FPVUK subs is a little cheaper. I've been with them for years and never considered changing until now and I don't fly planks. Does anyone have any insight into FPVUK insurance? Then again there is RCHA!!

Some places will only let you fly with BMFA insurance, so its worth checking on that with where you fly.

I dont know anything about FPVUK insurance im afraid.

I agree with jimmy, because BMFA is the most recognized company (not taking anything away from RCHA) many clubs expect that you are covered by them

And I just read that BMFA might not cover for land without permission. I have permission from my farmer but if I go over the road to the open space maybe I won't be covered as it is "public" parks land as far as I know. I never use it cos there are too many peeps with dogs and maniacs on bikes etc.
I seriously doubt I will ever join a club again.

No insurance covers flying without the land owners permission if it is private land you are flying on. Note that this doesnt include land you may fly over. From what I understand its where you are standing, and where the model takes off and lands that is important from this point of view.

Provided there are no specific bylaws prohibiting model aircraft flying in operation on the public land you fly in, BMFA insurance should cover you from what I understand.

If you fly at a Club then they will probably insist BMFA or if you visit a club regularly

Otherwise RCHA Insurance does the same job

So with it being cheaper it seems the better option for a non club flier.
