My AR7200BX just popped !! :(

Had my 500 on the floor to setting it up, and had it in one of the setup modes (blue light), it was in this mode for about 2 mins, then all of a sudden it made a loud pop noise and smoke started coming out of it !

ESC wasn't hot, but the ELE Servo was extremely hot !!


So p***ing annoyed, I feel like giving up with this hobby sometimes, Nothing ever goes right ..

l have never heard of a BX doing that!? sorry to hear that mate, send it back to Spektrum!

Spektrum is part of HH but its a Spektrum unit. Give Spektrum a call and see what they say

Sounds like you left it driving a servo too far (elevator) the resulting current overloaded it.

I'm sure it says something in the AR7200 manual about this, I would not be happy about the servo either, with the overtemp it may fail soon too.

Bummer that but I bet HH will see you right, especially as it was somewhat out of the blue. Wonder if the servo failed first thentook out the BX. Could send both back because one or the other did something rude to the other one.

Thanks Peeps, Just sent the BX off to HH with a small note explaining the situation.

@ st200ol, yes I'm now after a new ele servo aswell, a HITEC HS5245MG if anyone happens to have one

I suppose they will ask you to ensure you only attached servo after setting up its timings in steps B, C and D of the setup. If the timings were wrong that would explain why servo was very hot. As for actual AR7200BX failure, are you sure ESC or BEC are not at fault (for passing too high voltage)?

I was looking for Spektrum repair center on Google and found this thread.
Mine did the same thing weekend , only it was the speed controller that went pop and took out the AR7200BX, bummer, only had it about a month.
