But I believe this is the guy who knows about IR and the meter is awesome ESR / IR Meter fo Lipos - RC Groups also an excellent read.

Wayne is a great source of knowledge about lipo testing and there are a couple of us up at the club with one of his meters. I certainly have found mine very useful.

The height I fly I'd be lucky to hear the beggar at all. I fly with timer. Might hear it as it screams past. waaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaa.

That's a nice unit. Like the way all cells are shown on screen together. I got mine because of the balance function. Slap the battery on and leave overnight and it will balance to within 0.05V. No heavy currents, just a gentle suckle on each cell, one at a time.

I have the version 1 Fusion smartguard without the balance side of things. I wouldn't be without it. There's no substitute for mAh back in the pack for accuracy, but I have found the unit quite accurate if the unit is plugged in to the battery straight after the flight. This is before the lipo recovers and shows a higher resting voltage.

It is a simple measurement. You just measure volts drop for a fixed current pulse. Very easy these days.

You might try it. It is very loud. It also gives you the cell voltages. If you accidently use a battery that's not been charged it will tell you before you take off. They cost £2 and are a win win. Nothing to lose.

I know how to do it and I didn't say it was difficult Just more than they typically build into those battery checkers.

I do love the way some of them advertise the precision of the device without mentioning the accuracy

Well, that battery I balanced went on charge when I got home and in 30 minutes it had charged perfectly. Seems just two cells were out enough for the charger not to manage a balance charge in the time alloted in settings.

                    Me a happy kitty now
