Seems to be the new addicts are more intense than the ones that have been around in the hobby for a while. I am certainly way over addicted and spend too much time on this hobby. But hey I am loving it so why not. My job has me spending a lot of time away so I wanted something different as a break. Now it is taking over my life. Oh well enjoy while you can.
I always think when I learn a new move, yeah I will be happy for a while. then the next move starts asking. And oh well the cycle continues. There is so much head room in this hobby the sky's the limit, to post a pun.

I've calmed down a lot from a few weeks ago. A wet lunchtime or weekend is not the soul-crushing thing it once was. However, when I see 5+ days of rain ahead I tend to turn a bit of tooth enamel to powder (grind).

I think as I've improved the consecutive lunch times flying are not so urgent.

I love it & am looking at buying a wing as a night flyer. What i like is the pure determination i have to get moves nailed & be the best i can possibly be. I've made some bloody good friends in this hobby & will continue to do so. I entered my first comp earlier in the year but am unsure as to what i will do next year??. As you all know i'm not one for getting sucked into any hype or following the crowd & like what i like so i'm not spending silly amounts on the hobby, hardly anything at all really. Oh dam!!! i'm typing this when i need to shower quick & get to the flying field LOL

Very good thread Ben.When i first started in this hobby i didn't think I would get so involved .I started with the cx2 then the trex 450 then the raptor and the trex 600 plus a few other small ones plus the planks but I really like the social side and the flyins and comps. Unfortunately my flying has been pants this year and I seem to have gone backwards maybe thats because the weather has been pants and I have only been able to get time on sundays .Hopefully that will change and i can get more stick time in as i still want to fly and enjoy what i have .I also like building them not so much the setting up now as i just cant seem to get my head around all the tweaks with the bx .so its good to get someone else to go over things and double check as i always seem to miss something :-) lets hope we get better weather next year.

We should all take seriously the safety aspects and the matter of consideration for others, both fliers and members of the public. Subject to that, get out and enjoy yourselves.

as Mike says .. from a security perspective I'll take it seriously apart from that, well ...

I tell myself I seriously make progress at my own pace ...

I have spent serious money on the hobby lately without any regrets ...

I seriously enjoy flying or learning to fly, helping out others and the social aspect

and when a model goes in it has been seriously damaged

                      you get it

I love this hobby, the toys are great but the friends are even better this is why its so great, Ive been in the hobby long enough now to have developed a fantastic group of mates throughout the uk and beyond and it all who I am sure would lend a hand same as I would for them.

hmmm just read that it sounds soppy, but don't give a damn

as for addicted to it, Ben was probably thinking about me when he wrote the original post, I certainly dont spend the money I used too on the hobby, as I got all the kit now so that calms down after a year or so, but I still like to do the odd change of model. fly as much as I can and I have to admit I'm still from the camp that if its raining at the weekend I REALLY miss getting out and having a fly. for various reasons ive missed a few weekends over the last month... and its killing me!!!! must fly ! must fly!
                        All the best
                        Tony.

Interesting to see all the different aspects at what people consider serious and what others don't.

Also interesting to note hardly any sponsored pilots posting about their views which does surprise me???

                              Edit* make that none???

I bought an mSRX in August, 130x in September but keep telling myself to calm down even though I am itching to buy a 500 or bigger. Must learn to fly first :0) so next year. Read this forum more than I should though but I like the slower and friendlier pace compared to HF. I do count to pounds ( or in my case the francs) to see how silly I am being. What I really want to get into is scale models, all that 3d stuff is cool to watch but I want a hobby for quiet evenings and warm sunny days( being a scot 0C is t-short weather :0) ) hooked.
