The closer it is to the Rx the better, you suppress more of the line that way.

No that's not what I meant at all. The faith bit was the faith that people put in manufacturers. It is usually justified on a professional level when engineers are involved. The same doesn't often apply when the customer doesn't understand the product. The manufacturer may know what is going on, but that doesn't mean that the customer gets the truth the whole truth etc. Anyone who tells the customer the truth won't last long. It is often a delicate balance as not telling the truth is just as wrong. There is a big difference between what the customer should be told from his point of view and what is commercially practical. As you say though, with anything, if in doubt leave it alone and assume that it is needed. Many people don't and may be breaking the law emc wise. My main memories of emc issues as a designer is that results were difficult to predict which is why you did your testing in a screened room. General principles are simple but emc from real life circuits are very critical on cable length and layout. A simple toroid will make a difference in general but often things that you think will reduce problems can make them worse in a particular case.Flasher 450 Sport. You're ok, it's the outside world it protects. Your circuit should be safe through other internal means. But, flying in a ruddy field miles from anyone, gee, what's being protected? It's indoors where protetion is afforded but then, only the bigger helis really need it and you can't fly them indoors really.
It's a compliance thing. Don't worry about it. It does no harm on there.
