i agrre to all the comments on this post regarding coolice, ive had a few lessons and set ups done by ian. ian buddyboxing is a great backup if you need help as i found out trying to do nose in at the last lesson (i found it quite hard)hopefully will have another lesson with him shortly to attempt circuts. Ian will like his next set up for me if he's up for it as ive ordered the new 700dfc nitro today so hopefully will have that in a couple of weeks time might even splash out on a vbarrr instead of the 3gx that comes with it. just got to decide which engine to put in it redline 100 maybe

I was pulling really fast banked turns and just generally having a blast. Even did a couple of autos on the 700 thanks to Ian showing me how to set up the bail out properly - that gave me the confidence to give it a go (I normally just auto the 500 but ive gone through probably 4 sets of blades now due to tip overs causing the blades to hit the grips and take chunks out of them...didnt want to chance that with 700 blades so wanted to make sure I could bail out if I needed to!)

So yeah, I've just been ripping around the skies and even did my first "Round the clock" Tic tocs I was feeling so confident. Nothing like the proper version - really high up doing a "tic-Toc" then rotating 180 degrees and doing the same, this time tic-tocing nose down. Really chuffed me that did I worry about going into aileron tic tocs (Which I can do) direct from a tail down one because I know when it comes to the "nose in" part of the aileron tic toc ill probably get it wrong and smack terra firma

But yes, today was spent bombing around the sky, rolling and looping and doing all sorts with nice big wide fast turns, rather than just stopping on the spot and pointing the nose back where I wanted to go. The blade noise of that alone is well worth the money for the lessons and Ian added a lot more value with setup tips and the like.

BTW Ian, the autorotation enable on the kontronic is just a case of setting whichever mode you want (For example mode 4 for governor) and then just flicking throttle hold after the 3 confirmation beeps. (TH set@15%)

If you did it right, youll get 3 more confirmation beeps after you flick hold and a "telephone ringing" sound which you dont normally get when just setting modes.

Both the 700 and the goblin autorotation enabled now! The 700 however is grounded - had to cut a flight short earlier as it started making a funny sound in the air, like a kind of inconsistent shreiking sound.

I auto'd it down () As quick as I could and when I landed I noticed that when you spin the motor in the reverse direction you get a funny clicking sound and some odd resistance at times as the main gear rotates. I think something is wrong with the 1 way bearing.

Thanks again for all the tips, top marks - even in 3 flights I feel like i've progressed more than I have in the last month or two (thats why I Went to Ian, I felt my flying had stalled in its progression and I Felt that was because I couldnt turn)
            Hey.

This is brilliant news mate, today was a much calmer day and so it must have been noticable in the models feel during the turns?
It all comes down to confidence and yesterday has given you that little bit more in both yourself and the models ability to in this case fly nice banked turns.

That's good to know about the Kontronik settings, as I said yesterday as I've not had one to setup as yet I'm picking things up to tie in with what I've read and heard in the past. It did seem strange that you couldn't invoke the bailout unless you had the prog disk, but it seems that was the case originally from your other topic.

Glad you're shooting auto's now, compared to the little 500 the 700E should be a breeze to auto.
From what you're describing I wonder if the motor bearings have started to fail, as it's centered around the motor turning it could be the case. Unfortunately you will have to pull the motor out the model and possibly take it apart to fully work out if this is the case or not.

              Hey Mark.

Thanks buddy, appreciate the good feedback.

Oh yes, I am excitied and 700N DFC to go over. Yep I'm up for it!
As to the old Vbar or 3GX question, entirely up to you. You know me I'm now Vbar'd but the 3GX has improved with V2.1 and so could be worth you giving it a go to start with perhaps? If you then did decide to sell it on you won't loose too much money on it and could then go Vbar.

The private strip is very nice, the grass there is better than my back garden! The owners a great chap and did offer me a ride in his plane........... I need more time to grow the courage

I originally thought motor bearings myself actually, but where the "Clicks" are are repeatable with each turn of the main gear rather than each turn of the motor!

Yeah apparently Kontronic decided to enable AR bailout by default after theyd printed the manual or something, so it says you need a progdisc but you dont!

It was a lot nicer to turn yes... Much easier to do long turns without it stalling or falling or rising!

I did a few U turns when moving away from me, and a few U turns when moving towards me. And a few starting from left to right and vice versa. Im still tending to stall out a bit when doing more than about 3/4 of a turn, but I did do a few full circles, just with decreasing speed throughout each rotation...practice practice practice!!

Found out what it was Ian - The bottom motor support bearing (The one that goes at the end of the shaft, below the pinion) had completely disintegrated!

Luckily its the same as a blade grip bearing on a 500 so had a spare

                      Hey Buddy.

Ah yeah, that happened to me once on my previous 700E. Glad you spotted it and as you say and easily fixed problem.
