  • lazy pitch curves!

I really should have a play with my pitch curves but i get very little time to fly so when and if i do actually get out i tend to just not faf and try fly. Any way i run -10 0 +10 on my night 3d and inhabit points 1 and 3 ( 0 1 2 3 4) on the tx (dx7) so in affect i'm running a stright line, i run a gov so no need to faf with throttle curves my normal flight switch is set with gov off and the same pitch curve as idle 1 and 2 just for starting i'm running 19500 on the head speed on both 1 and 2 flight modes i'm really just wondering wot kinda responce i'd get from playing with points 1 and 3 as the other 3 points are set so to speak i suppose it all depends on flying stile but there has got to be a point where adjusting points 1 and 3 can be very wrong in either way if adjusted to much, how the hell do people manage to adjust a pitch curve on a tx with more than 5 points u must be adjusting all day and never get it right.

You realy need to sort out the throtle and pitch curve and get it flying on that good before you set up the governor. I know its the easy rute but it isnt the correct one ,i run on a pitch /throttle curve and my knight flies lourvely. Had a revloc 10 on it and it went all to hell and i had to revert back to the mecanical set up . It is a nice feeling when you get the bird nicely set up and it flies like a dream

      The throttle curves are fine the heli fly's mint i'm just wondering wot effect from 0 25 50 75 100 on the pitch i would notice to say 0 35 50 65 100 or 0 15 50 85 100 would give me in flight.

Sorry mis interperited mate , if the mecanical set up is good on the pitch side then 0 25 50 75 100 should be near enough id think it would make it more sensitive on the pitch in certain spots and more slugish in others say 0 to 35 would be -10 to -4 rather than -10 to -5 . If you had 0 to 100 and missed out the 25 50 75 then you would only move the stick a quarter to get -10 to +10 there for it would be realy touch sensitive

basically then its just as i thought a little bit pitchy or a little bit errrrrrrrr more stick needed lol, i do find that any inverted moves i try my brain doesn't wont to give it enough low colective movement so i think i'll try and move the curve's 1 and 3 a little out and make the effort to use idle 2 for that setting and have a play.

ok.. i fly mine linear. that way no matter where in the pitch range you are it will always respond the same.to X amount of stick movement. adjusting to compensate for lazy thumbs isnt such a good idea.

              Thats not quite true Ade.

Because of the fact that you are turning a rotational movement into a linear movement, near zero pitch you get more movement than at the extremes for any given stick movement.

What you need to look at is the output at the head, not the servo wheel, as thats deceptive.

The wheel will respond linearly to stick input, but that does not translate to a linear responce at the blades.

              If you use a pitch guage and measure the pitch at the 0, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and full positions, and aim for instance to get -10 -5 0 5 and 10 degrees respectively, the % you input wont be 0 25 50 75 100. but closer to 0 30 50 70 100

This acts in a similar manor to how adding in expo removes the non-linearity on the cyclic, a value of -27 seems to be about right on futaba, + on JR.

Rudder you can ignore as HH gyros take care of this.

So, best thing is, use a pitch guage to set the pitch at all points, rather than assume that 25% = 25% or 75% = 75%
