I want to experience building a heli from a kit and, also, have something to keep me amused on non-flying days. This will be my first build attempt. Would the ALZRC 450 be a bit too ambitious do you think?

Looks like an Align Trex 450 clone so won't be too tricky. Before going down the clone route you may want to dig out some reviews and see what the parts quality is like.
Some clones are good, others are shockingly poor, and I've seen a number of people buy clones, thinking they'll save money, and end up spending a fortune trying to get them to work, only to give up and buy something else.

Thanks steve_b. There's a huge thread on rcgroups giving a blow by blow account of the kit from unpacking to final assembly. The comments are 90% enthusiastic, often comparing the ALZRC parts more favourably than the Align equivalent.
I'm reading through the thread which is, generally, contributed by experienced builders and some of their comments (for a total beginner) are a bit confusing. I wondered if the gurus here might think I'd get enough support (which I'm certain I'd need) to see the job through?
I chose this forum because I've found it the best and most responsive I've ever experienced.
