Bit of an update.... my mate has looked at the log and the max amps being drawn was 142. Apparently the one beep thing indicates the motor has jammed or failed to start!?!?Stainburn Helicopter Club

That seems a lot of amps. At 50V as well. 7kW? What are the ratings of the esc, motor and lipo. What temperature did the esc get to. Was this a peak? You could have loaded it so much that the esc got out of step with the motor. Perhaps that is what you meant by the motor losing its timing. That could have caused a peak. If that is what happened you might be able to stop it by changing the timing of the esc. You would need to check with CC though.Flasher 450 Sport. Assan GA250 with 520 tail servo, MKS DS450 cyclic.

Your amps are far too high then. Your 2200 seems as though it could be the problem. Perhaps there's a reason why everybody else sticks at 2000. Power tends to go with the square of speed, so a 10% rise in speed means a 20% rise in power. She won't go no faster captain.Last edited by cjcj1949; 16-09-2012, 06:42 PM.Flasher 450 Sport. So would a esc change cure the problem? Something with a higher rating? Or should i be trying an 11t pinion to bring hs to 2000? Or can i just govern it at 2000 now with a 12t pinion?Stainburn Helicopter Club

I was running at near 2200 headspeed and I've dropped it to 2050 - 2100 approx, to be honest I've not noticed any difference in the agility / performance, all I can say is it's sounds a bit less 'poppy' on the moves. If anything it's a bit more controllable as the performance at 2200 was mental.Originally posted by SaneAdam View PostSo would a esc change cure the problem? Something with a higher rating? If you're running a CC ESC you may want to go back to the 10t pinion as I don't think they like running low % throttle curves.

I can't help with what you are trying to do. I can help sort out problems with electronic systems but I would have to play with your setup to figure out what is going on. I think it might be a few years until I can get something like yours to take off and land. It may be that you have gone beyond the limits of what a sensoreless esc and motor can manage. Your contact at CC would know. It may be possible to tune the esc by adjusting the timing and frequency of operation or perhaps a Kontronic would manage it. Often tuning to get things working at one end of a spec will mess it up at the other, like having problems starting. Vikki works with motors and escs and may be worth a pm.Flasher 450 Sport.
