  • What are Robbe UK like on returns?

As title really. My GP780 gyro was sent back to FL just under two weeks ago under warranty. I enquired if there was any news and was told it had been sent to Robbe UK for further testing. I tried to search the forum and most of the results were regarding specific Robbe heli's. But there were a bunch of horror stories about them as far as I could see!

I've just got this nagging feeling it may be months before I see that again!

Thankfully I just snagged a s/h unit off the forum for what i considered a good price so hopefully I won't be grounded now

My one and only experience, sh1t, took over 3 months on a replacement ds650 tail servo, within the first week they agreed that it was faulty but everytime i contacted them to find out where the replacement was, i was told it needs to be signed off then it can be dispatched.

Meh! I don't really know what that means but my gyro has gone back to the retailer under warranty and thats all I know. I'll get it back when they have it back I guess. Given it was 11 months and 2 weeks old by the time anyone suggested to me that it may have been faulty and need replacing, don't think it reasonable to expect anything else.

Hence just wondering if past peoples experiences may indicate whether I could expect it to be days, weeks or months. Sounds like months from what I'm hearing!

What he means is where you brought it from has to replace or refund you and they can not base their decision on Robbes outcome.

In other words your being palmed off.

I have had a few things to "return" a few years ago when I was building Robbe stuff which on two birds held up the build for about a week. TBH I didn't like their quality control all that much so wouldn't have another as my first choice but the earlier post is right, the supplier should have sorted it - you are being fobbed off.
Helicopter pilots get it up quicker.

When the blue light is flashing I am kidding.

Why simplify when it is so much simpler to complicate.

                      Hey.

RobbeUK are fair distributers, but as you can imagine they do have to make sure an item is a warrenty replacement due to a manufacturing problem and not through crash damage.
As the gyro is 11.5 months old its obviously been used for nearly a year and in that time could have sustained damage from crashes.

As stated your first port of call is FL, but I think due to the age of the gyro their warrenty exchange capabilitys is limited without having the unit properly checked. For the latter it has to go back to Align.
Even with my ties ins with RobbeUK when I had a 3GX go down it had to go back to Align, so its nothing unusual.

I don't think you're being fobbed off at all, just treated as anyone would be in the same situation.

I as some my know had an issue with a faulty component on my Align 700DFC, the failure resulted in the model crashing on its maiden flight, I contacted FL who offered to replace the faulty component but would not cover the crash damage.

So I contacted RobbeUK directly explained the situation and they asked me to send them the faulty component for examination, this I did and a day later I had an email from them asking me to send them all the crash damaged items and they would replace them all, this they did, took a couple of weeks to sort but they came good.

I was well pleased with the service I received from Keith and his team at RobbeUK, credit where credit is due.
