  • Carbon verse Ali t/booms

    Hi, Seasons greetings to everyone.
There's been much said about the tension of the tail belt on 450's, I too have had belts snap, some after only one flight. If the belt is tensioned correctly indoors & then you go outside, the colder weather will make the Ali tail boom contract, thus making the belt slack, so, does a carbon fiber tail boom stop this happening, but does this now raise another problem of gliching for those of us on 35mh???

Regards FM (must go lunch is served, pig out time!!!)

On 35mhz the carbon tail booms are widely regarded as a glitch fest.
    Regarding the expansion
    (m/m.K x 10-6)
    rubber 77
    nylon 23
    polyester 25

The rubber belt has nylon or polyester chords in it, it may eve be aramid (kevlar), but most likely nylon, and it is these strands that wolddetermine its length.

    Epoxy 18-20

    Aluminium 22.2

So there isn't much difference, and the two are well matched.
ie the belt shouldn't really get slacker in the cold.

    I'm GEEKING OUT again

I only logged on to send my bro an amazon gift voucher (he's sirtting next door).

    Merry Chrsitmas everyone!
