align 325 night blades

    align 325 night blades

    My 325 night blades take ages to charge (not the 90 mios on the instructions, more like 4 hours)
    Eventually the green light comes on on the charger.

    Then if I leave tham a day or two they only run for a few minutes (like one pack) when they should run for an hour or so. One is particularly bad.

    I'm wondering if I could charge them with my cellpro to see what the heck is going on.
    will that work? I think these are lithium ion rather than lithium polymer.

    duff charger alert, you can charge them on the cellpro.....but it will error at the 90% as it's only 1 cell and there's nothing to balance.

      So i make up a lead that charges the pair of blades as a 2 cell lipo then?
      Then the cellpro will work a treat?
      What are the three connections for, obviously the two connected to switch on are the +and-, what is the third?

      had the first flight with my new separated power supply on the rappy today - it flew great.

        just another question. My cellpro is before they added A123 type.
        So it ONLY talks about using it for lipo.
        Is it OK to charge the lithium ion batteries (which is what I thibk is in these night blades) with my cellpro using a dedicated litiumm polymer system?

          yes, it will be ok. make sure it's set to 1C only. Charging both as a 2 cell should work fine.
          The third pin is a short (as far as a charger is concerned) which effectively completes the circuit and turns the blades on.

            Well now I chopped the plugs off my align charger, connected it to the cellpro exactly as per my 2 cell lipo which charges fine- and the charger does very strange things.
            The blades stil work, read about 3.8v on my multimeter.
            The cellpro doesn't see this voltage. It reads much lower voltage, vastly differnt for the two cells and sometimes decides there should be three cells (very odd, only 3 wires going into it) then it errors out. I think the cells inside the night blades are just too small for the cellpro to figure out.
            I will try using my more basic charger with lipo mode tomorrow I think.

              Restored everything as before with my charger, blades same as they were from new
              2 mins on one blade, 4 mins on the other.
