  • Paramotoring - Cool but madness!!

On Saturday we were visited by 3 blokes who landed in out field (Paramotoring). This looked cool, and I thought when I first see them that I would love to to it, but after seeing them trying to take off in no wind and flying 20 ft about a dual carriage way, and almost crashing into bushes, I think I have gone off the idea.

    This gives you the idea:

I have done paragliding before. Just need to get my own gear and go for my club pilot certificate. Some of the lads do paramotoring and they say it's key to have a good grasp on ground-handling before going to those. Looks cool though.

I've had lessons but when it came to a tow launch that was it bottle gone! You're taught from the offset look up check the canopy then you get a tow look up and nothing!! its behind you at about 45 degrees followed by 30 seconds of sheer terror landed with lumps like potatoes in my pants!

Well I spent most of my college grant leaping out of planes at Sibson near Peterborough in 1977 ...
Best was one minute free-fall from a C130 Hercules at 12,000 feet. Seriously really fun!
This stuff looks like the nearest thing to flying like a bird, un-aided, who doesn't want to do that? - I love it and I want one!!

Lots of different things that fly

And happy to have FOUR shiny EGS

I'm a paraglider and I've flown a motor once, it was epic. I think i like unpowered more though. Anyone thinking of trying it shoul jump at the chance. I'm shit scared of heights too.
