  • 318 Squadron ATC

I got roped into doing a presentation at the local Air Cadets tonight. (318 (Sale) Squadron)

Now presentations are not new to me but this was a little different. It was the first time I've stood in front of 30 young Men/Women aged 13-19 Years. For most of them it was the first time they had seen a model helicopter. All were stunned at the videos I showed - they had no idea what a fun sport this hobby is.

Went throught the basics, and had a play with Phoenix on the big screen and was amazed at how much interest they showed. We've booked in 16 of them for a trial flight with Mark Bateman at modelflighttraining.

Many thanks to the staff at 318, I was made most welcome.

Bet they loved it Mark, my son is in 306 ATC Squadron in Runcorn and really enjoys the ATC, I try to push him to stick it through as it's good on the ole cv when he's older

When I was 13 I started ATC at 204 City of Lincoln Squadron.

I stayed there until I joined the RAF (for a brief time) at the age of 18

Whilst there, to be able to do the things I did, with pretty low costs to my parents, was fantastic, flights in light aircraft, including aerobatics, I had a gliding scholarship whilst I was there, meaning I had a fair few hours solo powered gliding.

It was great, and that is why I think you were so successful Mark with the SQN there, as its interesting to nearly all of them there, if I get good enough, one day I will go back to my old sqn lol

            well done
            Kev
