Doodson - Insurance for the BMFA - BMFA

    Anyone got this?

Not looked properly yet but looks great.

We are pleased to launch a specialist insurance product to protect models, tools and other equipment.

We have two different products – one designed for affiliated clubs, and the other for individual members. This is an important area of cover and the first policy that has been specifically designed for model owners and clubs and is exclusive to BMFA members.
We’ve been working closely with the BMFA to develop these insurance products. The policy covers accidental loss, damage and theft of models, controllers, tools and other kit.
Equipment is covered whilst in storage or away from storage. As you would expect, there isn’t cover for models whilst in motion (e.g. flying) because we wanted to keep the cost down.
For the clubs it was important that we developed a product that recognised that it’s not always possible for the club’s kit to be stored in conventional buildings, so the cover has been tailored to deal with this. The policy will cover any equipment that is needed to run the club – whether it is owned by the club, or if the club is legally responsible for it.
The insurance is provided by leading insurer, Hiscox, which has built an excellent reputation for providing first rate cover and a claims service second to none which means it is one of the most trusted and reputable insurers in the country.”
You can buy the cover online through this website.

Boooo (This was a joke I didn't really expect them to be covered flying!)

On a true note it seems like a good idea if your equipment isn't already covered.

Mine is covered with Walker Midgley, Cann’t remmber exactly but I think it’s £7 or thereabouts for every £1,000 you want to cover

            Got any links.

I'm sure they are covered by my house insurance but I can imagine its a bitch in the event of a claim so I will happily pay to have specific insurance for them. Got too much money sitting out there not to be covered.

Don't be so sure about this .... a member of our club had his house broken into and about £3k worth of scale heli's and Tx equipment stolen ... his household insurance did NOT cover him .... i checked my small print and model heli's / plans and accessories (Tx/Tools) are specifically EXCLUDED

I would check your house insurance also. And if not covered, get a quote for it. Might be cheaper
