Seems Quadasaurus has two motors where the out-runner rocks. One of them being on the arm that kept dropping. Looks like a case of bearing failure. But, did they fail in the crash (tree leaves and branches aren't that hard,) or did they fail before and cause the nodding (hope that's not nodding off).

You did say that motor felt a bit notchy before it went tree climbing. We thought it may have been sand or grass from his first lift off. Something a little more sinister by the sound of it.
At least you found something, nothing worse than going around in ever decreasing circles huh???

I'll wait and see what Geoff knows before I buy any bearings. Might be something daft

Fingers crossed then. Can't cost a great deal though surely?, and for the peace of mind involved, like you said, may be worth changing them all anyway!!

The little devils are cheap enough. About £12 for eight. Do one motor, do 'em all. What bothers me is why only one motor cogs (magnetic cogging) and three don't. I would expect them all to cog.

I guess you could test it on one of the other arms' ESC, to rule that out. It was so sudden when it stopped and started again. I don't think a bearing would do that, without being noisy. Quady was right it front of us when he was playing up, but silent. Perhaps that connector is just a bit too "loose". They must draw some serious current to need wires that thick, and he was losing it momentarily, causing the sporadic stop, start. I hope you get to the bottom of it, or Geoff has a solution for you.
                Good luck,
                andy.

That's not a bad idea that. At least I'd know if it was esc or motor 😊

I'll await Geoff's response first since I don't want to do any unnecessary pulling apart 😳

What's so annoying is he flew so perfectly on the previous battery.
