The risks of them combusting are small as we know, but it can and does happen. So each of us i guess assesses the risk and stores them appropriately based upon that risk.

With my first child about to enter the world, my risk assessment is based upon keeping him/her safe at all times and so ammo cases, fire extinguishers and smoke alarms mean i can sleep in the knowledge i have done as much as i can to keep everyone safe. Except build a 1980's style nuclear bunker to store them all in!

I still say that a lipo will only cause a problem if it is showing signs of an issue. If you look after them and check them as I would say is normal and if any of these 'not normal' signs are showing such as loss of flight time, puffing, losing a cell etc etc then you will be fine. In the 4 years I have been flying or whatever it is and since owning that first Trex 500 with 6s packs, I have never had a pack go bang at home. If I get a pack that im unsure off it get sorted. Normally by going in a salt water bath after being discharged.

Check them regularly and you will be fine and it is by no means a big huge chore it is made out to be!!
