  • Cacking myself......

It took a while to source a good ESC for my 700e, but it's all sorted and now and all the electrics have been tested and the BeastX set up, the lipos are on charge ready to load and fly - omg - not sure why but this thing is a bit menacing and I have to admit that it is a bit scary.... wish me luck lol

I thought my 550 was big but.....

That's good! You can still get that adrenalin rush without having to really make a huge effort :-) So just flying all the same moves you already do will be a bigger buzz. Eventually the newness and fear factor wears off and you get all casual with it.

Take leg braces (for jelly legs), bicycle clips (for spontaneous involuntary fluid release) and tissue paper (to clean up any spills).

Good luck. Looking forward to hearing how you got on.

oooh it's a big boy innit.

I remember the first time I flew the 600 - pant wetting experience. At least you've flown the 550 so have some idea of the larger sized helis... When I maidened the biggest I had flown was a 500.

            Good luck!

                Vikki,

I will take your advice, the only problem is that I'm wearing shorts (probably too much info) so the bicycle clips ain't gonna make a lot of difference lol but I'll take wads of loo paper with me.

                Cheers,

                      Hi P4ddy,

I Got hold of a YGE 160 with a Western Robotics Hercules super bec - it's more than man enough for the 700 (and I had an eye on the future).

                      Cheers,

I found a spare 30 mins at lunch today so I took the 700e out for it's maiden - so how did it go...........

Bloody brilliant - absolutely love it.

No silly business, I don't have the governor set yet and I'm running i/u1 at 70% which according the head speed calc should be about 1700 and i/u2 is set at 80% (1900).

Nice and smooth! The YGE was cool as a cucumber (nice inbuilt anti spark feature, so no bangs and pops to scare the living c**p out of me) - no electronic issues according to the telemetry, BeastX worked as usual, so all in all spot on. Dunno what I was worried about - she looks and sounds superb!

I'm looking forward to the next flight now

                          Cheers,
                          Simon
