Where does it move the failure point?
Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Probably about half way down the motor shaft lol. That was my first thought to be honest.

your wallet ...like every failure point does....

but when something does fail I will be the first to let you...

I rather like to thing where does it move the success point, but thats just me and how I design things...some will find some failure in some form or another ..I havent got time for fails...

this gear is a result of a "WEEKNESS" in the delrin/plastic main gear for my 800,s so lets see now what happens...

              Cheers

I'd guess to the motor/ESC if the pinion doesn't give up quick enough, as it looks tough enough to completely stall the motor.

Looks beautiful though and I'd imagine even better once it is engraved and drilled, a thing of beauty for sure, just not entirely certain I'd want that part to be in metal.

Still it is intended for a very specialized purpose so if the users are happy then who are we to worry?

It's been a very long time since I've crashed and not hit TH before going in, so I don't think the motor/ESC will be the issue. More likely the motor shaft at the base of the pinion, thats a 6mm to 8mm step down or the one way bearing. Although I've given the one way an overhaul with plenty of bearing retainer, anyway, I don't plan on crashing the 800 anytime soon. The last time it went in was about 150 flights ago....from a stripped main gear, go figure.

So yes, if it fixes the main gear weakness issue, then as the end user I'll be very happy.

                        G-Day Folks!
And Tripper bagged the last cut gear..DANG! i liked it..but offered it so he had first refusal but no refussed ther at all....should have made more of those! comes in at 100g
I like it..fitted the other one to my 800 and will test it tommora without blades in the back yard to see what kinda gear noise we looking at...I spun it with the head and motor disconected from the esc and its pretty nice!..not as bad as what i had expected...but once the rpms go up we may have a different jet sounding gear mesh..check out the new style gear..
enjoy G they on the way to Oz tommorra!

                        time to start testing...
I put the lube on and it definatly made it slippery its good stuff..let see how often we need it...can only try hey Boys and Girls

                        Cheers

                              G-Day Girls and GearHeads

first lets have a reference sound in my 1000 heli spool up with plastic gears...it has paddles on but they make a lower freq sound so listen past that and you get the gear volume and sound....

here is the 1000 spool up ..

now the ZERO BACKLASH metal gear....had vibes that hit the V-stabi

                              and now with some backlash

now my ears remember sounds and volumes and I remember the 1000 sound hurting my ears....But with blades on its super quite now so its all blade dependant now...will put some on tomorrow and record again..

                              cheers

That's a lot less noise than I expected, still better than those stinky nitros
