Trex 600 nitro tail problem.... Help please

The heli is fitted with a GY401 and a S9254 tail servo (I know its all a bit dated) The problem is the servo keeps creeping, it can be either way and at any time. Its actually even done it on the bench without the engine running.

Do I change the servo first, the gyro and then the receiver Any ideas / suggestions ?

Can you tell us what radio and reciever you have

Silly question but have you got any trim set on the rudder channel?

Also i had an issue with a spartan that did this and was advised that the spartan was initialising before the AR7000 reciever so we did a quick connect ie by switching the reciever off and then on again without switching the transmitter off and this cured it.

You could also try a rebind.

I have already checked the trim and there's no sub trim or trim set. I am using a DSX9 and AR7000 receiver. I will try a rebind thanks. Could this make a difference even though its an intermittent fault?
I'm not sure about your suggestion with a Spartan applies to a 401 does it? So would I have to switch the receiver off and on again each time? (sorry I'm not that clued up about these things, still learning)

Was just suggesting worth a try, my spartan didn't do it every time, i doubt it is the servo.

Its appreciated, its just so dam annoying when something goes wrong and you don't know why. Its like yesterday my engine cut, checked the clunk tube it was ok, checked the plug that was ok. Going to give it another go today but still don't know why it cut

It could be a temperature thing. If the gyro is taken from a warm room to outside, allow it to stabilize before switching on (10 Min). Also what gain have you set? mine was about 68-70% on my DSX9. Also the s9254 is a 4.8v only servo, It's not running at a higher voltage is it?

No, its not the temperature as its left to stand before I use it, I think the gain is OK as its not wagging and I'm running it on a 4.8v Nimh, but thanks anyway. I've also rebound it today and it still turns .................

Any more suggestions guys as I still haven't managed to solve it yet. I put a new gyro pad on as I was told that might be the problem but its still not behaving itself

My old 3g unit used to do this. would be fine for weeks then randomly started to do strange things. its not the servi. but a rebind and re set up used to fix it for me. give it a go

Hi Dave,
I had the same on my Gaui 550 with the GY401 and s9254. I know it sounds daft, but all I had to do was decrease gyro gain in the Tx. It had been flying fine for weeks, and suddenly started "creeping". I would trim it out (2-3 clicks), but then it would start going the other way, trim etc. etc. I have a feeling it was on about 70% HH (Dx8) . It did take a lot of fiddling with before someone came over and suggested lowering it and we realised that 10% or less from the "wag" was not enough. It's now on 50% and flies fine.

I hope you're cure is as simple as mine was (in the end), good luck.
