what am i doing wrong.
Mini pred (standard) just got a t7cp futaba, when i turn them both on the only thing that happens is the light on the giro flashes non stop.
Thats it is there something else i need to change.

do you have the correct channel cystal (xtal) in the reciever and in the transmitter?

.... and are they both on the same modulation? ie - ppm or pcm

yea the pred is untouched and the crystal in the futaba is the one out of the mini pred controller, so i would have guessed that it would work.

NO, transmitter crystals need to be for the specific make so use a Futaba one.

so do i need to buy a futaba crystal for the tx and a new crystal for the reciever or just the tx.
sorry for being so thick its a lot to learn.

Yip Thomas is right. When i use my Futaba 9CHP TX to fly my electric bell47g co-axial heli then i have to replace both Xtals to get it to work. It wont even work with a Futaba Xtal in the 9CHP and the original Xtal from the bell 47g RX (on the same frequency). I have to switch both Xtals to Futaba ones. So if ya get no joy with a Futaba Xtal in the Transmitter then switch both and it should work.

If it is just the mini pred receiver then just one for the transmitter.

Id buy both... pointless buying one Xtal. You'll probably use the Receiver one later anyways (maybe on a diffrent model).

My experiences with setting up mini preds found the stock receiver that came with the model did not work all that well with futaba tx's regardless of the crystal. Most of the guys I know who have them are either using the supplied tx or changed the receiver.

This was quite common with the early models.
